I also enjoy P G Wodehouse and used to love his Blandings and Jeeves novels. My favourite Wodehouse quote is
"Has anybody ever seen a dramatic critic in the daytime? Of course not. They come out after dark, up to no good".
That probably didn't go down too well at the time!

I ran across a humorist's works a while back, John Kendrick Bangs. His stuff is funny. He wrote parodies of the Sherlock Holmes stories, funny ghost stories, Ghosts That Have Haunted Me, The Water Ghost, and one about Methusala that was a hoot. Sorry about thes spelling, the dictionary is in the other room and Im too lazy to go get it.
"I planted some birdseed. A bird came up. Now I dont know what to feed it." Ramblings of a retired senile mind.

Mostly I read supernatural like books, teen and adult fiction. Don't get into reading to many non-fiction.
When a good book captures me then, I know I've found happiness.

As long as there's some form of excitement in the story, I'll enjoy it. That's why I tend to shy away from love stories. I love tales of people over coming danger! If that happens to fall into the sci-fi, horror, or adventure, doesn't matter to me. I'll read it.

I read several; horror, adventure, romantic-comedy, love stories, sad stories, funny stories, etc etc.
History is not my thing though.

Well, my reading taste was firmly established in Fantasy and Science Fiction. Then I joined a book club and read "Book Clubby" types of books. I really enjoyed those too.

I do mostly the horror genre. But break it up with other genres, such as military, history, sports or suspense/thrillers in between reads at times

Japanese literature in general, minus the sci-fi and fantasy (I'm okay with thrillers and horror though).

And yes, there are many people who are more interesting (if not more serious) than Haruki Murakami.

Actually none of the types you mention.

I read a lot of novels (Isabel Allende, Amos Oz, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the classics, Chaim Potok etc etc etc) and non-fiction like books on the Second World War, biographies of politicians, books on contemporary affairs, American politics, European history.
