Exactly.gali wrote: ↑20 Nov 2018, 09:21 I have read the book when it was the BOTM and liked it, though I didn't rate it that high due to its slow parts. This is a coming of age story following the adventures of a headstrong orphaned girl in the wilderness. Like you, I liked the smooth way the author interwove convention and tradition. I also liked how the author integrated his own personal background into the tale. Thank you and good luck!

The pace, especially at the start, was as arduous as it could really be for those of us with real-life struggles. Thank you for your positive comments (and for all that you do for the club).

This piece has tinges of what you've mentioned, indeed. Thank you for dropping by.fndirangu20 wrote: ↑20 Nov 2018, 09:24 Thanks for the review 4 stars is worth. It is written by an author whose writing style is good, understanding, and the story is well organized and interesting. The story setting is in the wilderness of Washington State. The story has historical facts, native culture, past legends and flows with a spiritual quest that makes the story more interesting.

It sure is. The pace may be a bit slow at the start, which could be painstaking for some readers, but isn't that how any life challenge could seem to be to those of us who struggle in reality? I hope you'd find the piece as worthwhile as I found it to be. Thank you for your kind comments.kandscreeley wrote: ↑20 Nov 2018, 09:28I love that! It seems to perfectly describe what the book is. A great blend of history and fantasy with great characters and a lot of adventure. This one has been on my reading list for a while. It sounds like it's worth the 4 stars! Thanks for the great review. On the other hand, it will appeal to those who are open to be enticed by a unique blend of pragmatic consciousness and imaginative mysticism.

That's also quite true in a figurative (but not in the literal) sense. However, there are reasons why it could turn out to be different for some if not for too many. Thank you for that humour-filled and yet still insightful quip.

One of the many things I like about books is that they open up our minds to being more perceptive and even receptive of the unique realities that fictional characters and real-life people go through, which account for the way they turn up to be. The process more often leads to better understanding, empathy, and compassion instead of the other way around, I believe. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

More often than not, fictional stories could turn out to be different from what we expect them to be even as we thought we already had everything figured out. I hope everyone gets to go to the right path, too. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.

I was intentionally looking for a piece that this book's title seemed to resonate. I can't say I wasn't surprised by the things I later on read, but it surely didn't disappoint me at all. I hope you'd find worth and value from it as I did, too. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.serendipity 27 wrote: ↑20 Nov 2018, 10:18 I haven't read this book yet but your review and summary of the novel makes the story seem very intriguing. I usually don't read adventure fiction books too often but I think I will have to pick this one up. You did a great job describing the contrasting themes and ideologies.

Family reunions aren't really as perfect as what we would want to be, but we always have to make the most of what we have and could do given circumstances. The whole process could be tedious and hairy at times, and this book isn't bereft of real life's twists and turns. I liked the piece, indeed, so I'm looking forward to next one in the series. You didn't have to, but thank you once more for sharing your thoughts.fernsmom wrote: ↑20 Nov 2018, 10:29 I had already commented on this review earlier but since it is the BOTD review I'll comment again. I can of course find something else to say about your outstanding review!. I think a story in itself is the fact that it is a surprise granddaughter which you mentioned in the review and I read in the sample. I like the author's style of writing as well as yours!. I think it sounds like a good book, and Congrats to the author on the BOTD, and congrats to you on being the review of the BOTD!
