You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

This sounds like a very enlightening and inspirational memoir. I look forward to reading this book as I have already downloaded the kindle version. I grew up in a city and haven't had to experience poverty in a rural setting but I do work with individuals who have and it is great to gain some insight.

From the tone of the review, Jimmy was a really good genuine man throughout his lifetime leaving behind a notable legacy for himself. I always like to hear about the good things or good people as well as things that people have done that brought forth the best or bettering of other individuals whose lives they have touched. I think it is really neat that Amy Mathis looked up to her father and wrote this book recognizing him for the man that he is. It is nice to hear a child that had such a great impact from their parents. But it seems like the good goes unnoticed therefore it really piques my interest to read a book on or about the good in a person. #GreatBookoftheDay

A memoir of Jimmy Mathis which is brilliantly written by his daughter Amy Mathis and the book tells the story of a humble person who was a lifelong learner and had devoted much of his time to church and community.

Biographical books are not exactly my cup of tea but the review is very thorough and it is no doubt that James Mathis had quite a life. It is also clear that he was the person who found his path in life, his true calling which had resulted in lots of changed lives and changed for the better. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

When so many memoirs seem self-indulgent, this one seems like it's giving something back to the reader. This is the reason why I am considering picking this one up. I'm not usually a fan of memoirs, but this one seems genuine and thoughtful, so I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the great review!

Once in a while I like to read memoirs and heartwarming books. You are right there are a lot of people who came from humble beginnings then became successful with hard work and perseverance and we can learn from them. That's why I love this kind of stories. Thanks for your review!

Even though I don't read this genre, this book sounds inspirational. It filled with important life lessons and I like the author's style is conversational. Got my copy! Thank you for the thorough review!

Jimmy sounds like a great man, and I would have liked to know. The book looks fabulous. However, my father passed away just two years ago, my brother passed six months later, and the only family member I still have is fighting stage 4 cancer. So, I think I will pass on this one at this time.
Thank you for your excellent review.

I’m a bit burnt out on the genre at the moment, but I was impressed by your thorough review and the details of the book. I do think a lot of people write in fragmented sentences almost like a thought. I noticed it while I was reading the sample pages. Great job on this. Not sure if it’s for me.

A rare example of someone who thrived despite being removed from his family. It is heartening to see the legacy of service and kindness continues. Thanks for the great review.
