War stories never appeal to me because of the deaths involved. The book however seemed interesting, and a love story within it made it atractive to those who like love and war novels. Congrats!

Love drives people to desperate heights, and for Richard, it led him to fight in the Anglo-Boer war in South Africa. Meanwhile, Rachel, the love of his life, becomes the victim of a kidnapping thanks to her indebted brother.

This is an incredible Romantic historical fiction novel with love, espionage and war. The book is free on Amazon Kindle and has a detailed OnlineBookClub review that highlighted the best the book had to offer. I rated the book 4 out of 4 stars. Congrats on being the BOTD.

Apparently not a book that will please me much. But a historical fiction with a war in it means something for me. So, I would like to give a try. Congratulations on being BOTD and thanks for the free giveaway

I love the plot. This review made me want to read the book. I have never read a book where somebody goes to war just because of love, so that's unusual.

I enjoy reading about romance but not war. This book sounds very well-written, and I love the use of vocabulary. Unfortunately, the genre keeps me from being interested.

I love a book that can teach me new words. That aside, I'm quite curious about the relationship between fighting in a war and proving one's worth of love. I'm particularly pleased that the romance was well interwoven into the plot. I only hope the Richard's "lucky" exploits aren't borderline unrealistic. Thanks for sharing this lovely review.

Thanks for the thorough review, but I don't like historical fiction on the best of days; add to that romance and backdrops of New Zealand and South Africa during the Anglo-Boer war, and it's definitely a "no" for me.

Well-rounded characters and seamlessly moving from one timeline to another would make for an easy to read tale. Placing information in the chapter titles can be a big help. I'm really not interested in reading a love story that revolves around a war, but I found your review very interesting. Thank you for your hard work. 💕

I was a bit confused with the opening pages of this. The main character was the narrator, and the time jump from one period to another didn’t make sense at first. Your review has helped clear up the muddy waters. I don’t think this one is for me, and I appreciated your informative review.

I loved the combination between romance and historical fiction. The time switches between the protagonist's adolescence in New Zeeland and the time he spends in South Africa during the Boer War made me want to read more. I'd also like to know if Richard and Rachel will be together, after all. Thanks for a great review!

This review made me think of racial wars throughout the history, interestingly there is too much to count. I have never heard of Anglo-Boer War in South Africa. This read seems to provide a gracious amount of details about this historical event. Looking forward to read this book!

A historical plus romantic fiction seems quite intriguing. I loved the plot. It seems quite interesting that the protagonists joined the war to prove himself to his love interests Rachel's family. Thanks for the detailed review.
