I like romance but its combination with historical fiction and war topics is quite a deterrent for me. But I've read the review and it's very enthusiastic. I'm glad that the author uses clever movement from one timeline to another in chapters, I believe it will kept the book interesting for those who decide to read it. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

It is, in fact, an unknown war and I'm glad we get to learn about it in an engaging book.
The skipping of timelines, when done right, can be fascinating.
I'm glad the author opened your world to new authors and even new words, its one of the greatest thing about reading!
An amazing, honest review. Thank you!

This novel is set in the 19th Century depicting a myriad of issues, including war, love, social status, and cultural differences. I'm not familiar with the Boer War, so this would be an introduction to it. I like that the author took such care as to develop characters and timelines so thoroughly. Great review.

This sounds like a really interesting book! I like reading historical fictions and the 19th century is a really interesting period. I haven't read any that took place in New Zealand and South Africa. Thanks for sharing your review!

At first, the review reminded me of War Serenade by Jill Wallace, a recent BOTD. As I kept reading, the plot seems more involved and 4-stars on Amazon (even with only a few reviews) is impressive! It's been added to my bookshelves. Thanks for the free download!

This book looks incredible. I don't know about this war, and I love that this is set in 19th century New Zealand. I look forward to reading it!

A story set in the late 19th century that follows the life of Richard Wilson, a New Zealander who falls in love with a girl named Rachel Purdue. His love, for her, leads him to join the Boer War to prove himself to her family! Historical fiction mixed with romance sounds interesting! Got my copy! Thank you for the well written review!

Love is one of the greatest motivations. I hope Richard gets to prove himself to Rachel's family. Congrats to the author on winning BOTD.

[/amazon]This book has me awe and is carefully Illustrated to give meaning and full understanding of what life was like in 19th century it also embarked on a love journey of romance and hardship and what people would do for love, definitely gives meaning to what the real definition of love is and the lents you would go to have that person in your life forever until you die

The sample was wonderful. I liked the setting and place and time of the book. My favorite part was the romance. I think many people will enjoy this book.

While reading the sample of the book I could tell that it was well written. However, based on the above summary I am not sure it is my type of book. Although I enjoy romance and historical fiction, wars of the 19th century are of very little interest to me. I also prefer books which don’t jump around quite so much as the chapter titles suggest.

A love story woven into a war novel is an interesting read. I would like to find out what "Forgiven" means in the story.
