Great review. This sounds like a good read for fans of historical fiction, romance and tales of war. Richard Wilson sounds like quite the lucky character and his adventures should be entertaining. Congrats to the author on a great review. Thanks so much for sharing.

Quite an intriguing romance and war integrated story with characters from both the English and Boer sides of the war. Richard and Rachel sound like interesting characters.

This sounds like a beautiful period novel about a war that I also know almost nothing about. I would love to learn more. The characters sound complex and intriguing. Thank you for the introduction to this book.

Sounds like this book has a "love can conquer anything, even war" type vibe to it. Sounds intriguing and intense at times too. Thanks for a good review!

Thank you Cher432 for your interesting review of Forgiven, by Geoff Lawson. I like historical fiction and romance novels, so this book sounds perfect for me. I have heard about the Boer War, but never studied about it. Congratulations to the author for being chosen as BOTD.

I enjoy a good historical fiction story, like you I do not know one thing about the Boer War, other then what I may have learned in school a long time ago. I think that I would enjoy this book, plus I love the cover, very nostalgic. Thank you for your review.

I read review and through I like romance part of it, I quiet dislike war stories as a genre. Action provided by this part of storyline may adds more voltage, but at the same time cruelty of war ruins this book for me.

The main character has an interesting reason for joining the war. I'm not familiar with the Anglo-Boer War so reading this book might give me an insight during that time period. Thank you for an insightful review!

From the review, the book seems interesting to read. As it reveals young people who are trying to know each other.

One can learn about the trials of love from this story.

Thank you for the interesting and well-written review.
Books are lovely.

Story was amazing. It may be no more interested without romance. Author did well job to realize that reader is present at the sight.

I love reading books set in wars I don't know much about, because I feel like I am enjoying myself by reading and also learning! I also really like the writing style where it flips back and forth between different timelines.

I'll be giving this a pass since war stories and romance never were my cup of tea, but New Zealand to South Africa? Definitely adds a lot to the issues that would happen, actually extending the issues of the story as real and something to conquer over.

I enjoy a good historical novel, and this one seems to be well-written. It will be quite interesting to learn about the Boer War as I have never read a novel set in this era. Thanks for the tips regarding the time line changes and your great review.
