I'm glad I took the time to read this. It's only since I've been on this website that I'm trying to get into Twitter. I admit I'm still trying to figure it out. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it soon.

Very nice summary of how to use Twitter. It's a great read and guide for those who are new to the social media platform.

I love how everything has been summarized perfectly in this post with regard to the usage of Twitter. Perfect reading material and and a manual-of-sorts for social media newbies.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who dug their heels in with Twitter. I created an account also in 2011, I believe, because a college class required it. The class was for aspiring teachers to learn about using technology in the classroom, and the class was a great one. I learned a lot from the professor, but in that class I used Twitter a handful of times. We were supposed to use it to network with other educators, which I did, but then I promptly forgot about it.

Now I'm using Twitter for OBC purposes, and I'm trying to network with other authors, publishers, and editors for when I finally write my own books. However, then, and now, I've struggled with the sheer volume of tweets and people on Twitter. It's overwhelming at times. It's difficult to sift through the posts of just the people I follow, nevermind sifting through posts on a hashtag thread.

I think the more I use it, the less overwhelming it'll become.

Thanks for the detailed information. I'm not such a newbie when it comes to Twitter, but I did have some challenges at the early stage of my venture into it. I also abandoned it for a couple of years (can't recall exactly how long because I forgot my login details) but I stumbled across it again with a ton of followers waiting for me. Pretty surprising, huh? It seemed like they preferred my absence to my presence, lol. Anyway, this piece would certainly help any struggling with how to get a hang of the site. Thanks again!

I'm in my twenties and I still don't understand twitter or hashtags.
Sometimes I wonder what happened to myspace and livejournal.

I feel like I come from the bizzarro universe sometimes. My account with 16 followers gets more attention in a week than my account with more than 400 :D

I had a weird experience with twitter. With 500 followers but only five people or so paid attention to my posts. However, I later noted that I had followed people with different personalities and did not care about my posts. I had to follow the people who we share ideas as mine.

The common theme with Twitter is people create an account, go ghost for years, come back and become obsessed. At least that is my story. Lately it has been frustrating. So much ignorance on there. You really have to curate your following list to skip over the crap.

I use Facebook, LinkdIn, Pinterest, but rarely have I considered Twitter. I am not sure why exactly, but it just never occurred to me that it would be of any use. I will spend some time playing on it over the next few days. Hopefully, it will help me market my book better. Thank you.

I still do not have a good hang on twitter. Instagram works better for me. This article is so helpful. I was unaware that followers can be purchased!

I enjoyed your cheerful and humorous article. I'm not on Twitter , but perhaps I should join. There are so many social media platforms out there and it's quite time-consuming to stay on top of them.
