This book tells us how to be strong in difficult situations. The Protagonist, Bernie, struggled to find himself despite losing everything close to him. The novel contains almost a bit of everything: love, hatred, anger, and mystery. Great review!

A tough journey by Evelyn Cole is a nice pick for readers of tragedy, love and romance stories. It a tour into the tough life journey experienced by Bernie. It combines characters well, with quality imagery and originality. I score it 3 out of 4 for it artistic expression of intent, with little or no grammar and spelling error.

Sounds like the grace in Bernie's character lifts this novel well above its flaws. Thank you for the recommendation.

I don’t know why, but the sample pages I read today were not formatted correctly for the Kindle app on my iPhone. There were big gaps and spacing issues. I think with what you have mentioned here as far as violence and sexual imagery, I’m not going to read this one further. I thought the beginning was somewhat odd and not something I would enjoy. Thank you for further insight into this novel. It’s just not for me.

The cover of the book is very simple and I would not have chosen it, but I have read the review and once again came to the conclusion that you should not judge a book by its cover. Having read the review I see that the book seems pretty interesting with multiple romances, a series of violent murders, and an enthralling mystery that involves Bernie's neighborhood in Huntington Beach. So the book will definitely keep you awake with the desire to finish it as soon as possible. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

I wrote this review, and it still holds true today. This is a great book, and Bernie is an excellent main character.

Great review, very thorough. Seems like a very complex book about growth and development through difficult experiences.

With the short sample I read, I also saw excellent character development you described in your review. Unfortunately, the drugs, violence, and infidelity completely turned me off. I'll have to say no to this one.

In all reality life is a tough journey...
I am interested in what it takes/the turning point and or what the motivating factor that helped individuals become stronger in themselves. Sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom for people to see what they want or don't want for that matter. There are some who it and stay right there in it. But, I am interested in the struggle success stories.

This sounds like a very interesting book which is just the kind that I really enjoy. The themes of loss and love combined with the murder/mystery aspect point to a sure winner in my estimation. Your review was brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Many thanks.

This book has mystery and romance. It also has graphic violence. The beginning is a bit hard to follow, but the book makes up for it.

I read the sample of this book. The dialogue is great and intriguing, but the formatting is way off and makes it difficult to read. I think if the author would straighten that up, it would be a fantastic read! Based on your review, I really want to know what the tragedy is that happened and caused the main character to lose everything. I am also curious to see the many subplots you mention and the growth of the main character in his journey toward happiness.

The book sounds intriguing. I'm curious to know what tragedy occurs and how Bernie loses everything.
There seems to be a plethora of topics and themes going on in this book and I'm wondering how they all fit in together!
