I like the way the author focuses on a realistic protagonist, who finds himself in terrible circumstances, and faces different consequences.

The details of this book remind me of the saying that misery likes company. The details sound engaging, the sample had real-life drama so I expect the novel to be quite engaging.

Many sub-storylines, growth and heartache, facing consequences - sounds like something I like to read. Although, violence to animals would make me think twice before choosing the book.

It seems that tragedy sometimes brings out the best in a person. The warning on sexual imagery, violence to both people and animals is good in selecting the audience to read this book. Thanks for your review.

It seemed to be a story about relationships and the joys and tribulations (even murder) that go with it. Relatable so it seems! Congrats!

I'm curious the picture on the book appears to be titled Hurricane Love, but the title is actually A Tough Journey? I don't see that anywhere on the book cover. Strange. I enjoyed reading your review. I might just have to pick this book up sometime. I love a great mystery and a romantic story. Thanks for the review.

While, A Tough Journey certainly takes its time to get into the meat of the story, once there it takes off while gangbusters! A good read for a cold afternoon; perfect with a cup of tea! I wouldn't recommend a glass of wine--potent sexual imagery, might have you trolling the streets for a little action, lol!

I read the sample of this book on Amazon and was instantly hooked. I'm not sure what you meant by it being "slow in the beginning." Things seemed to be happening rather quickly to me!! I guess I'll just have to read it and find out! Thanks for the great review!

I am interested in the different title on the cover of the book! Sounds like an interesting novel with mystery being combined with personal interactions and relationships between the characters. Also interesting is the fact that it combines so many genres into one novel. Set in a kind of remote area, it sounds interesting exploring people in such a small community. A nice and revealing review.

Thanks for the interesting review concerning this book. There are certain elements that pique my interest in this book - the mystery and then the strained relationship between the main character and his father, however, my interest falters when you mention that the book is hard to follow in the beginning. For me, the first few chapters determine whether I will pursue reading a book or not. If it is too difficult to follow or get into I'm more inclined to put it aside. I'm on the fence concerning this book so I may put it on my to-be-read shelf for now.

Today's BOTD sounds like one we can all relate to in some way. It's a good reminder that everything happens for a reason, and even though what we go through may be difficult, after all is said and done, it always seems to end up how it's supposed to.
