We are all confronted with circumstances in life that seem out of our control. While some may withstand greater adversity than others, we all have our share of situations that we endure in our journey through this path called life. In the narrative, Bernie epitomizes the human experience as he sustains those events that people withstand occasionally. Through creating him as a relatable, fallible figure the author has formed that human experience in greater depth, thereby making the encounter with the book all the more realistic.

This book sounds interesting but busy. Romances, murders, mystery and a tumultuous relationship between father and son is a lot. Wonderful review.

Your review intrigues me and based upon what you have written I am unsure about how a mystery type novel could end in romance. Nevertheless, I am very interested in reading this book especially since it charts the personal growth of one man. It is always a great compliment to the author when a reader feels an attachment to the characters to the point that they forget that they are not real.

Not sure what to think about this one. Even after reading your in depth review, I still can't form my own opinion. Book sounds so conflicted(not so good) and complicated(always a bonus). Will have to read sample to make up my mind.

I do like this review, so much that it makes me want to read the entire book more so than the 1st chapters did. This story is starting out a bit convoluted, not immediately letting you feel you were starting a journey with Bernie. This review showed the books potential. Thank You for great review.

Glad to hear that these characters are well developed. I'll pass due to the graphic violence. Great review.

An interesting review.. The book does cover a number of genres and has a lot of depth too. Thanks for the review.

This one seems as a great book, but I am not interested in books that discuss about human relationships, especially romance. So I will pass on this one. Congratulations on being BOTD

I was interested in this book until I got to the part about the mature content. I’m afraid I’ll have to pass on that.

It sounds like it was really a tough journey for Bernie, i am curious to see how he came out of it all. when an author is able to make readers escape reality into the world of his book, that is a success. Great review.

I could only read half of the sample of A Tough Journey because of the foul language and it became too pornographic for me. It started out okay with good descriptions of surfers and the town of Huntington Beach, and the main character of Bernie sounded like a good person you could root for until he ran into Chloe after surfing. I could not bring myself to read anymore after that.

I think your review summed the book up really well. I read the sample of the book and found the beginning to be fairly interesting and edited pretty well. Thanks for the non-spoiling insight into the rest of the book!

Based on the review there is a tremendous growth for the characte here. Though there seemed to be confusion at the start, the book has shown its improvement in the middle. Nice review.

Good review. I like reading stories with a good story and romance and this book seems to have plenty. Bernie after a tragedy has to move on and figure out where to go from there. I’m interested to find out what happens to Bernie.

There are multiple romances, a series of violent murders, and an enthralling mystery that involves Bernie Perkin's neighborhood in Huntington Beach.

I'm in!!
