This is my first book on the Vietnam War. Learning more on this has been enlightening. The review is also pretty clear and honest.

There's an instant attraction between Sam and James, the man she just met. He is going to war in Vietnam, an environment harsher than anything he has experienced before. Meanwhile, Sam is carrying another man's child.

Based on the review this is not a book that I would enjoy reading. I don't like to read books with content about previous wars. I don't like to read about the lifestyle of people during the war and the struggles that they go through. I will pass on reading this book.

Interesting Vietnam war historical fiction written with authority and authenticity by author's real life experience. Would love to learn more about the war or police action, like they say. Congratulations on BOTD.

This sounds like a really intriguing and enlightening book. I think it's great the author actually draws from his own experiences of the Vietnam War to really give a much more powerful and realistic pull to this story. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Great and thorough review!

I enjoy fiction about WWII, but haven't ever read any about Vietnam, and I love coming of age narratives. This one sounds like it could be right up my alley. Thank you for the review!

It would be interesting to read on how the Vietnam war affected the ordinary people, particularly those coming of age. It's for this reason I would like to read on how the teenager Samantha copes with a relationship with James Coppi, who is about to be deployed to Vietnam. Thanks for a great review.

When I saw that title The Police Action I expected a story on modern day police work. So, am surprised that it's a coming to age story on Vietnam war. Looking forward to reading it because, l am sure I will enjoy it. Thanks for the great review.

The love story of James and Sam piqued my interest. I also noted that there is something to do with abortion in the book. It is good that the reviewer warned people who are sensitive to the issue of abortion to steer clear. However, historical fiction always fascinates me. So I am adding it to my to-read list.

For me, history has always been a powerful theme in the books I read and this tale has intrigued me just by reading the review. The Vietnam War was and will always be a point of reference in historical fiction. I might get to like the characters after reading the book. Sam sounds very interesting not more so James, the main character. Thanks for your review
