I have to say that Howl's Moving Castle was a better movie than it was a book. If I had read the book first I likely would have never watched the movie. I might just be biased because I saw the movie first though.

Glad I stumbled onto this thread. I have always been adamant that books are better than movies and this changes my perception.

I think 'Into The Wild' movie was better than the book. Emile Hirsch was phenomenal in the film.

I would say twilight. At first I was not so sure about it so I read the books which were the best and than watched the movie and the movie was okay.

I'm really excited to watch all of this recommendations above!!! In my personal opinion, I would say "The War and Peace", by Bondarchuk. Shame on me, but I definitely can't read Leo Tolstoy... That's why I like the movie more.

Evince- you really think the movies were better than the books? I would have to disagree, because there was so much in the books that weren’t added to the movies, parts I love. I’m also biased, I should say, because I grew up with these books and they’ve been around 95% of my life. But everyone is entitled to their opinion.

The Princess Diaries book was awful compared to the movie! I love the movie, hate the book. It's not a movie, but the Wicked musical is amazing! I could not get into the book. There was way too many innuendos for me. That's all I can think of. Usually I am all about the book rather than the movie, like I am Number Four.

I agree, the books were a drag and one of the very few books I left halfway. The movies were so much better.

Honestly I tried to read The Hobbit and it was so long and boring, especially when they’re stuck in the forest with the spiders... the first two movies were better than the books in my opinion (of course the third one was stupid).

I have already mentioned Dances With Wolves but another that just popped into my mind was Being There (the Peter Sellers movie). The movie Being There was INFINITELY better than the book.
