It's wonderful to know that the author overcame his personal demons and found peace while climbing mountains. The author's climbing accounts are truly inspiring for beginners like me. I added it to my to-read list!

The review was done with such details and if you are interested in climbing this review would give you what is necessary to chart that journey. Although, this is a true story it is a good one about soaring through the journey after long planning to get to that final destination. It seems this reviewer will get you interested in reading about what its like to climb peaks that will appear to much for me to grasp. I am sure the author had a purpose for his journey, and from this review, he manages to reach it's peak.

I liked the first thing you mentioned in your review was what you expected the book to be about and then your thoughts after reading the book, "this book came out to be a more worthwhile adventure compared to my original assumption." The Altitude Journals by David J. Mauro is a lesson about one ordinary man doing extraordinary things.

This sounds like an inspiring memoir about a man who became a mountain climber at 44. After climbing the highest peaks of seven mountains, he provides details from his journeys. Congratulations on BOTD

Not my cup of tea, have no clue about mountain climbing other than the fact that it is scary as heck. That said, by your review, it would be a book to read by the person who loves this type of story. Thank you for your review!

A very solid review by SpencerVo! I very much appreciated the reviewer noting their expectations going into the book and how, surprisingly, those expectations were met and exceeded in a different way. A very honest and down to earth review of a very honest and down to earth account of the author's mountain climbing experience. I can also appreciate the cathartic and therapeutic way the author's climbing experiences proved to be for him, in both the actual experience and the telling of the experience. The reviewer explains this well in their review and how it made the reader feel reading these accounts. I only read the sample, and from that, I felt a lot of what SpencerVo explained in the review. I like the suggestion of reading it piece by piece instead of all at once for rumination and reflection.

This sounds intriguing. A different approach at first, in my opinion, but after reading your review I think that the information provided in this book will be the best approach to anyone that might need a boost of confidence in themselves or a boost in morale. I am looking forward to reading how the author was able to conquer over adversity in his expedtions and then applying that knowledge and experience to his everyday life, as trivial as that may have been in comparison. Thank you for your thoughts! I will certainly not pass this by.

David Mauro's mountaneering journey from a clueless mountaineering rookie to a proud conqueror of the Seven Summits reads like a dream. Such focus and determination is enviable. I enjoyed the sample and review. I do hope I get to read the full book soon.

I am not much of a fan of extreme sports as muse. It seems like another adrenalin high for another privileged white guy. Sorry for the negativity. That's just my take. I'm glad you enjoyed the book.

I love a good autobiography and this sounds like a very inspirational memoir about finding the courage to climb mountains, both literally and figuratively. I'm glad that you were able to find so many positives about the book after the initial confusion/disorientation while reading the first few chapters. Thanks for the honest review, explaining what your expectations were from the beginning was a nice detail. Well done!

The personal account of this mountain climber is quite adventurous and inspiring, the author in sharing his ordeals has entertained and equally educated his readers. Personally I enjoyed reading the review and I look forward to reading this book.

Because of my own family background, I also elected to live a life as a soldier instead of other alternatives which I had. I have also taken part in climbing and extreme hiking expeditions and when I read the sample of this book on Amazon, I could immediately identify with the author and his situation. Then, reading this review, I was again attracted to the book because of the many similarities in my life. What also impressed me was the detail that the reviewer described concerning actual climbing and the equipment involved. Together with some of the other details described such as camp etiquette and the physical hardships involved, I was strongly attracted to this book. I enjoyed this review and I think I will also enjoy the book as well.

Thanks for the review! This sounds quite inspirational, but probably not my type of book. I don't generally love memoirs or biographies. I think I'd also find the flat tone quite tedious.
