Thanks for the review! I think it's unfortunate that one chapter near the end seemed jarring. However, this book seems like a fantastic read for those who have a desire to answer those questions Courtney made known!

No-no-no! I agree it was awful what happened to the author, but I refuse to read this rape-memoir. And don't consider it healthy to share your personal tragedies with everyone.

This was a difficult sample to read as I too am a survivor of over 50 years. Your review was well written and did help me to decide if I was going to read the whole book. Sadly, even with forgiveness I am unable to read the book for fear of bringing things up from the past. Congratulations on being the #BOTD

Over coming struggles like this one can be pretty daunting and overwhelming. I commend the author for giving voice and turning attention toward the effect on the entire family and friends. Thank you for your review!

I felt that this comment from one of Kristine's friends, Courtney, sums it up nicely: "How do you treat a rape victim? Do you walk on eggshells? Act as if it didn’t happen? Talk about it openly? Wait for her to bring it up? All of these questions, with no answers."
I totally agree with this comment. I'm glad the book gives some ideas of how to help a sex assault victim and their close ones too. Indeed, sharing the family's and friends' perspectives is a valuable help, so others who suffered the same situation can use them as a reference. Although each person is different, I'm sure this book may help.

I think coming out openly to speak about rape is not just a bold and confident move but something really amazing. Very few people can manage this and I salute the author. Thanks for the great review.

This book. . . As I was reading it, I could feel the author's pain and even though I don't know her, I am so proud of her for being able to put such an awful incodent on paper to not only inform others, but to also help others who have suffered from the same trama.

I love how a review can change my opinion or point of view. I normally don't read books that involve rape, especially true stories. I'm glad that the book only covers before and after her rape. I enjoy stories that help me better understand people and further my ability to be empathetic to many more situations than just my own experiences. I'm glad that she could live a fulfilling life and help many others along her way.

In a way iy might be helpful and rather somewhat therapeutic for other people who hare same awful experience to work out the issues and see that life can go on. On other, it can bring back memories of their suffering cliser to surface. Personaly I avoid reading such tales of abuse and violence.

I enjoyed this review because of the way it described the format of the book, illustrating exactly how it was laid out. I agree that the different style of printing for the author and her family and friends, relating their impressions is certainly effective. Possibly the change in format for that near the last chapter will be a bit jarring and the author should probably have an objective person read the manuscript before publication. A very well written review that made an impression on me.

Inspirational memoirs are legit. The book addresses a sensitive subject that has affected majority in the society. I will read the book to get answers to the following questions; How can I treat or handle a rape victim? What do they need so that the situation may not escalate to a severe mental problem? Insightful review. Kudos.

This sounds like an incredibly and important subject. I'm glad it's well written for the most part, and includes info for friends and family of a survivor.

I am hopely that this memoir would help disseminate the pain victims of rape go through and the way to curb the menace. Knowing that the act had already occurred, the author has to accept it and move on.

Memoirs are not my cup of tea and I will definitely not like to read about rape and its aftermath. Though I'm glad that the author managed to overcome such a traumatic experience and found a man to love and to trust and got her HEA. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

A memoir of a young female, who tells her story of one traumatic night, and how it affected her and changed, in some way, everyone around her. Very well written with excerpts from friends and family being a plus, in understanding their feelings of anger, guilt and responsibility. I plan to finish this book this weekend! Congrats on #BOTD and thank you for sharing.
