Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have looked twice at this book, as young adult fantasy is not for me. However, your review reveals the many layers to this story as well as the allegorical associations, and I find this fascinating. Sometimes, I manage to find a young adult book that I love, and this seems to be one of those times! Loved the review...thanks!

It seems to be an interesting book.
I like the story a lot and especially the meanings of friendship and sacrifice in it. Great review!

This sounds like a very promising fantasy series. I like the mix of European and Asian influences. Will be checking it out!

I do not read YA/fantasy books so this is one I would take a pass on. I did enjoy your review though and found it to be very thorough and I do like the cover. If I was a YA and judged a book by its cover, I would pick up this book. Thank you.

All the characters in the book have important roles and great character development. They break stereotypes and make you love them. The book is a very creative piece filled with imagination and art. Plus, it talks about social evils! It's a definite must read for all! Thank you for the review! :)

I loved fairytales since my childhood, fantasy became logical extension. Review makes this book sound very appealing and compels to read it as soon as possible, because it is not everyday you find storyline such many layered.

Thank you for an absolutely stunning review! I’m picky about fantasy stories, but your raving review has me thinking critically about picking this enormously imaginative tale up!

Your review was very well done. It makes me want to read the book, both because of the story and, also, because of the underlying meaning. It sounds as though it gets very exciting as it builds in it's storyline.

This is a very imaginative magic story with lots of thrills, adventures, and intrigue. It'd make a good movie.

The ability to make your own world is incredible. It leaves so many directions to take a story. I'll have to read this one. Great review.

A book where a girl can bring her paintings to life seems interesting.

Thank you for the great review.

Fantasy books are always filled with true fervour for adventure and excitement that is sometimes lacking in other genres. From your great review, this is definitely a book I want to read.

I enjoy reading books written for a young adult. I find them imaginative and wildly entertaining. When you wrote in your review, "She learns that once it is finished, a painting does not belong to her anymore", and "On the other hand, the multiplicity of perspectives is part of the beauty of art", are the exact things I've taught my three children who are all artist. It's nice to see the artist journey woven throughout the storyline. The cover alone caught my attention along with your beautiful review.

Great cover! Ato's adventure is something I'd pick any time of the day. I love that there is a deeper layer in the story, much like in paintings. Thank you for your insightful review!
