I am 65 and I don't read YA. The book sounds interesting though. Two young men coming of age. Thank you for your review.

From the sample that I've read, I like that I can relate to a lot of the experiences from Spike and Joey. With Spike, having to fight for what he desires, and Joey, being naive and having to adjust to the world accordingly. I just can't help but appreciate the characters themselves, as they appeal to me.

I read a sample of this book on Amazon and felt it wasn't a book I would enjoy reading in it's entirety but your review was very enlightening! You gave a very good overall view of the theme and the characters to the point I am now sure it would not be a book for me! :D I don't mean that in a negative way, I just mean it sounds like a very good book but not one I would be interested in. However, based on your review it does sound like a book I would mention to my older teenage grandchildren. Thanks.

I read the sample of the book before I read the review. I am glad that I did because I fell in love with the story and the characters just from the sample, but now after learning a little more about how the characters develop I am very excited to read this book. Thank you for this wonderful review.

It doesn't seem to be an ordinary YA book. It shows all the harsh and difficult aspects of a teenager's life in an unfavourable and unfriendly surrounding of Bronx: physical abuse, sex, betrayal. The reviewer mentioned that the language in the book is both inspirational and graphic so it will be interesting to see how the author managed to combine these two such different things. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

Spike definitely sounds complex. I’m not sure how I feel about the graphic content though.

The book covers a wide variety of topics that teenagers have to deal with. I am curious how the story turns to tragedy. However, reading about gangs is not something I usually like.

This seems to be a YA novel touching some serious issues. Spike sounds like an enigmatic character.

Thank you for the great review.

An engaging review. I think this book, with its realistic plot and characters, can be very beneficial for a teenager to read. They will be able to relate with it, too. Thank you for your detailed review.

Goodbye, Rudy Kazoody, seems to be a book covering the growth of a teenager in a diverse environment. The usual challenges that face teenagers including sex, gangs are seemingly clear basing on this review. Congrats on your review selection for the book of the dày.

Young adult literature has to be my favorite, and I'm glad to hear that there are many original books written in this particular genre. Except for being interesting to the reader, each book should also carry a lesson in itself, and this one certainly sounds like it does both of those things. I will definitely try to find a place for this book on my bookshelf, thank you for an inspiring review!

I agree with your idea that the book should have been told from Spikes perspective. Nonetheless, I think there are a lot of readers who could relate to Spikes complex character. Thanks for the review! I'll have to check this out soon.

This is a very diverse young adult book. The author has covered issues such as questioning religion, physical abuse, sex. Despite the PG content, I believe parents and YA can learn a great deal from the book.

It sounds like this could be of benefit to older teens. I’m a fan of YA novels that have the power to actually speak to kids in a language they’re interested in hearing. This may be one of such stories. My interest is piqued!
