I believe this review would prove to be very helpful to the author. It seems to hold very sound advice for future endeavours. However, the graphic language about the sexual exploits of teenagers may be too much for me to handle. Thanks for the warning, Amagine. Very insightful review.

Indeed, sex, moving out, blending in, getting friends, and connecting to others are important topics for teens, but I do not consider a story has to be graphic about sex to achieve their attention. Although the topics the story delves are interesting, the graphic sexual content turns me off.

I love the fact that the book talks about many challenges that teenagers face in their every day life. Joey was made famous through Spike, her cousin. This attracted a lot of things physical abuse, sex and much more. The book is an eye-opener. Great review

This book sounds like it not only has some amazing character development, between Spike and Joey there seems to be a lot of great aspects for the reader. I like that this YA novel doesn't shy away from tough (but very real) topics throughout the novel and that it embraces other important topics like diversity.

This sounds like a good book to be read for young and older people. With the importance of the topics that is revealed within this book, it may be able to help parents teachers and young adults open up to one another and be able to communicate with each other before tragedy does strike n any situation.

This sounds like a touching coming of age story. I think immigrant stories are more important than ever in the US right now. And this sounds well-written and authentic. Congrats on BOTD!

I feel this author did an excellent job at describing life in the city, especially as a young child coming to America without knowing the language. They captured the feelings of being an outsider very well, and had a lot of good descriptions about the environment around them.
I feel my children would enjoy this story as much as I did. It is filled with action, what some people would call teenage rebellion (they were not violent in action, however just like most children they made decisions against their parent's wishes), the consequences of doing what they pleased when the family found out, etc. I would recommend this book to anyone who had children.

After reading the sample of goodbye, Rudy kazoody I was enthralled. Leaving you home to move to a new country where you do not know the language is daunting enough as an adult but children can be cruel. This is the story that will explain how it shapes a person.
