EXECUTIVE HOODLUM by John Costello is a gripping biography with all the perfect components stitched together. The book has been very well written and the readers are instantly drawn into the story. This is the kind of story that would make a blockbuster movie. The fast pace and the beautiful narration keeps you on the edge of your seat. I'm really glad that i chose to review this book.
The central character of the story John Costello is the namesake of his father who is a conman and and also the source of problems in John's life. John has a strong character and throughout the story he manages to motivate the readers by his actions and decisions. John and his mother is treated very harshly by his father. After the death of his mother, he discovers his father's second family. The environment within his father's second family was heaven compared to the way his father treated him and his mother.
He was always a bright student and also very good at sports. He was the first member of his family to attend and graduate from college. His father however, had a brilliant voice, which he used to draw admirers and eventually turned the backstage during his shows as the spot for scamming people. John finally gets a job in the semiconductor industry.
Will John be able to concentrate in his job without drifting into the underworld, to which his family has been linked for a long time. Will his father's Career and decisions land him in trouble? There's a lot for you to find out.
This is a story of struggle above all. The situations that John finds himself throughout his life are unbelievable but he always manages to fight back and emerges victorious. The story is highly motivating and it tells us not to give up hope in the worst of conditions. The death of several family members adds to his sorrow. I'll rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
The writer has done a brilliant job. I liked the fact that the writer decided to use "The Sit Down 1986" as the first chapter. That really sets the tone for the rest of story and also grabs the attention of the readers in no time. This book has something for everyone. As a reader you feel proud of what John has accomplished in his life inspite of all the troubles and barriers that got on his way.
I found only one typo in the book which was negligible so I'll not deduct any star from my ratings cause that wouldn't do justice to the story and to John. I'll suggest this book to matured teens and people who are having a tough time. This book is a source of hope that there is better things in store for everyone.
