Randall or William?
Should William have somehow taken over being the leader once they reached the island, which was also his hometown, or was Randall still doing a good job keeping his crew together to survive?

That's true. Being sailors I would think that they have a strict rule about who takes command in case of emergencies.

It's true that William gave hope to the others through his stories but Randall was still the one giving orders like making the crew gather firewood.

But, I wonder, is giving hope enough reason for someone to be a leader?

That could be true. I think he still had faith in Randall's leadership even if he came off as too hard to the crew.Nellbathory wrote: ↑04 Apr 2019, 08:47 I do agree that maybe William would have been better for the leader but I don't think he wanted to be. He didn't seem like the person that either wanted or would appreciate the attention and it felt like he didn't want to have to deal with the responsibilities it brought. He didn't even want to be the one walking for help in the woods afterall.

No, I agree with that, but that with his ability to keep the group calm in a difficult situation and then being willing to go for help proved that he was brave and had leadership skills, in my opinion at least.
