I love this genre! I can't even count how many times I've read The Hunger Games series. Some of my other favorites are Birthmarked by Caragh M. O'Brien, Legend by Marie Lu and The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau. These are all young adult trilogies, and they are fabulous. If you are looking for a classic, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is very good. So is The Running Man by Steven King. Ray Bradbury has a ton of really interesting short stories like A Sound of Thunder and There Will Come Soft Rains.

I have read most of then (The Hunger Games, Legend by Marie Lu, The Running Man) and prefer a standalone book. Thank you for the suggestions!

Gali, have you ever read the Chaos Walking series?
It's one that will stay with me forever. I absolutely loved it.
I even made my dad read it. And he reads, like, crime and thriller books. Only. He loved it.
If I could recommend something HARD, this would be it.

@gali - I've read quite a few dystopian books. I think you'd enjoy Project Tau. Or have you read any of Tara Basi's books? The Orb is a great one. Death's Kiss by Regie Khemvisay is another great dystopian novel, but it did have grammatical errors when I read it.

Thank you, I will check the first books you mentioned. I prefer books that are without grammatical errors.

I really like Margaret Atwood's novels. The Handmaid's Tale and The Heart Goes Last are my favorite dystopian stories.

Emmi Itäranta's Memory of Water and The Weaver.
The former is pretty straightforward dystopian based on environmental collapse. The latter is more fantasy based (and is probably my favorite of the two).
I really enjoyed both of them.
