Sci-fi is not a favorite genre. I get lost in the maze. The sample made my eyes glaze over. The meeting of Mak Eta and Nasin felt like taking Valium. But seasoned fans may enjoy this read. I am impressed with your analytical review.

I don't generally like science fiction as a genre, however, this book seems to be coming to a rather interesting story. I too found the information dump to be slightly overwhelming, but I am glad to hear that the meat of the story is worthwhile. I am adding this to my Want to Read shelf. Thank you for the fantastic review. You have convinced me to give it a try.

Excuse me, but I am somewhat confused - is this really a book or advertisement for new men's cologne? Because that was my first association seeing cover AND title. Very unfortunate choice for both in my opinion.

This sounds like quite an adventure for readers who love sci-fi. Perhaps a bit of an involved read to begin with, but with good pay-offs if you stick with the story to the end. 'Seamstress' has a good point there about the cover though, it really does remind a person of a cologne ad. Thanks for the descriptive review!

Apex Five by Sarah Katz, a science fiction genre book that looks like an interesting story about a universe that suffered an exceptional phenomenon (the storm) and became a world called the plane, made up of five species of countries, where the characters have special features and live adventures and dramas, this makes it recommended for those who like science fiction.

While I enjoy the sci-fi genre in general, this one sounds like a bit much. I can see myself getting frustrated by the constant parallels drawn with historical events.

The sheer scope of Apex Five makes it a bit overwhelming. While the prologue does pique the curiosity, the beginning chapters could have done with a little less info-dumping. (In the first chapter alone, all five nations are mentioned, at least two major historical events are alluded to, economic terms are bandied about, and apart from two characters talking, nine other names are thrown into the conversation as well.)
Based on the overwhelming bits, I don't think this book is for me, but I appreciate your interesting review.

"Apex Five: The Plane" by Sarah Katz is a science fiction novel about 12000 years after a storm of flaming rocks which destroy the surface of a world called Plane. Quite an invigorating read. Congratulations on BOTD!

This doesn't look like a book I would enjoy. Great review though.

Too bad about the typographical errors and the formatting mistakes. I do not usually read sci-fi books, but I am glad that you liked reading this book. Congrats to the author on the 3/4 rating.

Based on your review, this book sounds akin to the Hunger Games or Divergent series, where it features a dystopian world. I'm interested in reading it, but I tend to falter on overly wordy books. Hopefully I can get through that, because you make the book sounds very intriguing. Thanks for your review!

I agree with your critiques that the author should not have had so much info dumping especially in the first chapter. I think that slowly getting the readers accustomed to each world through different chapters would have been better. I also like that as a reader and reviewer, you were able to draw parallels from real world events from the past or present to the fictional events in the story.

The cover looks intriguing. The plot seems quite engaging. I'd like to delve into this book of complex worlds.

Interesting to know that the characters are sometimes bizarre. Sad that there was so much info-dumping. Great review.
