From the description this book really does seem a lot like Avengers and the likes. I've recently discovered this genre and still learning to understand it, as it's difficult sometimes to keep track of everything that happens in a very short time. Anyway, if I'd decide to read this book, I'd go for the whole set of books in the series.

A crime thriller with excellent villains and a tormented hero. A book that is action packed, this all sounds very impressive. This is also a well done review, very inviting.

Oh I am definitely a fan of justice league and x-men and having a book like those is really interesting. And the part about the book being like a jigsaw puzzle slowly placed together peaks my interest. Thanks for the review I guess this book would be on my shelf soon.

Thank you for such a detailed insightful review. I just love how you compared the book to all the movies. It sounds like a really good book to me apart from all the gory bits. I wonder sometimes are they really necessary?
The contrast of themes, greediness and self-sacrifice, always gets me. I might give it a go. :techie-studyingbrown:

I think the comparison to "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" is an appropriate one. I love action-packed, fast-paced novels and Altered Reality seems to be just that. In fact, the first thing that drew my attention was the title, which, in my opinion, was well chosen. Thank you for the review!

Wow! Absolutely loved everything I read about this book! Reviews, sample are promising really great, premise has all the makings of epic work. One little thing through - in my opinion it belongs more to sci-fi than C/H/T/M genre.

While these characters sound well developed and the story compelling, thriller fantasies with considerable violence are not my genre, in any regard. Thank you for the thorough review.

This sounds like a book right up my alley. I am a stickler though for getting the entire story in order. Not reading this one yet but looking forward to it when I've finished the first one. Congrats on the #BOTD.

I love the X-men, so if this book is anything like it, then I will surely like it too. I enjoy reading novels where the characters with extraordinary powers battle the bad ones. Based on the review I can see this book as a movie. Congrats!

I don't personally like all those superhero movies - too much violence for me, but I can appreciate those who would enjoy this genre. It's great when a book can be a standalone and makes you curious of its previous book. Sounds like James has his hands full with the Alter within him. Wonder what kind of information James will gather from his fellow Alters? Also, I wonder if James will be able to find and help Samuel harness his power before "The Man" does. Sounds like this book has pretty heavy and dark themes. Glad you found this to be full of twists, the writing style to be rich and humorous, and that the characters were introduced well. Too bad about the errors you found, but glad that they didn't distract you from your overall enjoyment of the book. I feel this may be a bit too violent for me, but glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing!

This sounds like a book for fans of superhero tales who have a stomach for gory details. A troubled hero with a nod to Stevenson's Jekyll and Hyde.

I like your review and I agree that this book sounds like something in the vain of The Avengers. I am not the biggest fan of superhero themed stories, but I do like the "whodunit" aspects of the book. Based upon your review, I was easily able to imagine the different settings that could have been used in this book and the way that the Temple looked. I was most impressed by the number of different characters and storylines that the author kept going throughout the book.

This looks like a fun read for superhero and comic book fans. I don't think I would appreciate it because of the violence, but I am sure it is a good fit for fans of this genre.

This was a very thoughtful review; however, I think you gave some valuable information away that naturally made me feel like I know where the whole plot outline of the book is going; It makes the reader lose a bit of interest.
Your solid opinion is well-appreciated and the work you've put into writing this review is admirable. Thanks for the great review!
