This is my favorite subgenre of crime books: legal thrillers. I hope there are court scenes. I grew up with Perry Mason and enjoyed hearing the judge say "Sustained" or "Overruled." The religious overtones are welcome, too. Sam Young seems like someone I'd like.

Crime/mystery isn't my favorite genre, but I do find the concept of having two different stories going on simultaneously, especially when one is purely through a journal, intriguing. I doubt I'll pick up the book despite the title, which sounds almost sci-fi like but it's worth considering. Great Review!

This crime/mystery sounds intriguing! I love that the two points of view intertwine perfectly, like 2 stories in one. Congrats on the book of the day! Great review.

I like the thoroughness and depth of your review. When I first read the title, I thought that this book would be in the fantasy/sci-fi genre. I was surprised that this book was a mystery book, but one with a lot of promise to it. I think that the ending should have been clearer and the two different stories should have matched each other in terms of complexity.

Great review of today's BOTD! Thank you! I now have my copy, and I'm looking forward to reading it, especially since I love a good mystery. I think I'm going to enjoy the different writing styles used in part 1 and part 2. Also, it's always a plus when you feel like you are part of the action, as you mentioned you felt while reading the journal entries. Again, thank you, and keep up the great work!

I am generally not a big fan of said genre, but reading this book description in the review just gives me a feeling of too much ago about nothing. So, no offence to author meaning, I will skip this book.

I love a good mystery/crime novel, but a poor ending just ruins the book for me and makes me feel like I wasted my time. Thanks for a thorough review!

Oh! I wish this story had fewer or no mistakes. I liked it so much. I think it is great thinking how it was constructed. How I wish the author would fix it. Nice honest review.

I cannot connect the title of the book to the story as reviewed. And this makes the book more intriguing and interesting. I am a fan of mystery/crime genre and I am excited to determine who the killer was as I am always able to do so way before a book's final chapters.

I really enjoy books that have mystery and when the ending is not expected. A lot of stories follow a similar structure and can make it easy to predict the ending; which I’m okay with sometimes, but other times I like when it’s “out of the box”. I just got my copy through Amazon and I am excited to start reading it! This review was a great insight on what to expect and definitely got me curious.

I think I would enjoy this. I like it when the author goes out of the box, and it sounds like that was done in multiple ways here. I also enjoy books told from multiple perspectives. It is good that the author executed the transition between perspectives well.

Two different stories in a novel remind me of a dual POV, even if the story was delivered through letters or entries into some kind of diary. Dual POVs are hard to pull out. Often we get interested in a character that's not the main character. But I guess it works here because X's identity needs to remind secret till the end, I presume. What pulls me toward the story the most is that the main hero feels he has a lot in common with a serial killer. That should be a point that could be very fascinating and fun to read about.

Apart from the minor problems that the reviewer found while reading Almost Mortal, the review was interesting. Thank you.
