I loved this adventurous story with a lot of emotions. The pace of the story kept me turning the pages without giving a second thought.
I loved the way Charlie has portrayed the emotions of the characters. There are varied characters with different temperaments. You will find varieties like love, humor, and tense moments in this story.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves an adventurous and emotional story.

The book cover goes very well with this adventurous read. I loved this story based around the lives of seamen.

Nerea wrote: 01 Apr 2019, 12:15 The adventure in the wilderness is breathtaking. I also liked how the author balanced the narration for the characters at sea and those in dry land. The themes are incredible as well. Though the cursing words featured in the narrative didn't appeal to me and the misconception about the Holy Spirit. I'm yet to post my review, but I rate the book a 4 out of 4 stars. The author is a good storyteller and he uses simple, clear, and easy to understand language.
I also felt that Charlie Sheldon is a good storyteller after reading this novel. I would like to add that he used his personal experience as a seaman very wisely in this adventurous story.

I felt symptathy for the characters, and I like that a single incident had a big impact on a number of people and I thought the author was able to tell their story really well.
I also loved the way Charlie has portrayed the emotions of the characters. I felt sympathy for the characters who had to face a dire situation in the ocean due to an incident on the ship.

Out of my normal reading comfort zone, Adrift was a pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed this adventure into an unfamiliar part of the world, and while at times I found characters to be slightly one dimensional, the story gripped me to the end. I would definitely recommend it!

I rated Adrift 4 out of 4 stars because it is so very well told. I live in Interior Alaska and having been raised here, I have experienced working on riverboats seasonally year after year. It is an amazing way of life and only someone who has lived it can tell the story as well as Charlie Sheldon has in this book. I recognize the reality in each of his characters because I've known people like them. I appreciated the way he built the story around all the different people included in the book. It's a great read!

I liked the sea voyage terminology the least. I actually wrote a review of Adrift that should be posted soon. I go into more depth there.
Awesome. Can't wait to see the review itself. Glad you enjoyed reading the book and that you actually gave it a perfect rating just as I did. What excited me most in the book was the air of uncertainty that was there since the beginning of the story.

This is great to hear first-hand information from a person who lives in the setting of the story. It is good that the author wrote drawing from his experiences. The book was perfectly written.

I also felt that the author has taken care of the intricacies of the story and it's characters very well. The scenes have been described very well and the characters are also well-developed.

vishu wrote: 03 Apr 2019, 12:05 The book was a simple read to me. It was inspiring at times, like when the crew was out in the sea, but it was nothing extra ordinary to me. Though, the author's writing style is very polished. The characters, while well written, weren't relatable for me. The editing certainly uplifted the book. I rated the book 3 out of 4 stars.
I agree with you on the point that the author's writing is very polished. I felt he is a good story-teller and has written this story simplistically.

After the first few pages, I knew I would finish this book. The story is very compelling and simply written. The aspect I enjoyed the most was the unfathomable human spirit. When faced with insurmountable odds the human spirit always shines through. The only aspect that gave me pause was some of the vocabularies used for sailing. My overall opinion is a 4 out of 4 stars . The story was action-filled, relatable and suspenseful. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read.
I also loved the way the author has written this fast-paced intriguing story. Charlie Sheldon seems to be a good story-teller.

I agree with you. Although there are a number of characters, all have been developed quite well.

I liked it a lot. But, it contained too many technical details for my liking. Sometimes I felt it would have been better if I read its prequel. But overall I liked it very much.

juliusotieno02 wrote: 26 Apr 2019, 02:37 The spirit of togetherness as depicted in this piece of literary work is something worth mentioning. The author also shows his abilities by providing an excellent plot and general flow of the story. I didn't like the character development though;somehow it didn't meet my expectations. I'll give it 3 out of 4 stars
The spirit of togetherness is very much worth mentioning. The human spirit is unfathomable. Just when you think you can depict what one might do they do the opposite. I think the human spirit in this book is well depicted in several ways. The fight to stay alive seems to be the most prevalent. I agree the plot was excellent and it flowed well!

I rated it 3 out of 4 stars, because I found quite a few mistakes. However, the story as such really caught my attention. I didn't particularly like the writing style, but it wasn't that bad. I also liked how it touched the topic of cultural preservation. Also I liked the parts describing how the crew tried to survive in the wilderness.
