Looking for a book recommendation (info in post)

I haven't been reading much at all in a while. Looking to get back into reading. I'm fairly open to any recommendations but I really enjoy Historical Fiction/History books in general. Thanks!

If you like historical fiction, you could try the Hilary Mantel books, 'Wolf Hall' and its sequel 'Bring up the Bodies'. The third and final book of the trilogy is due out in the not too distant future, I think.

In regards to historical fiction, I am pretty sure that everyone regards James Michener as the master. Edward Rutherford uses the same methods and writes on the same grand scale. But I like a good laugh and so my all time favorite of the genre are the Flashman novels by George MacDonald Fraser. The "hero" in this series is really a cowardly rogue, but he always finds himself trapped in historical events in which he becomes a true hero almost by accident.

With regard to historical fiction, are there any specific eras or historical events that you are partial to reading about? I love historical fiction too, but I know there are certain ‘histories’ that I find more interesting than others. I have lots to recommend, so let me know what interests you and I’ll share what I’ve read.
