I love the names (Battery Boy, Stuff, Jugger) because it seems that the kids kind of picked them for themselves. Seems realistic enough, especially if the apocalypse took place before they were old enough to know their names; or maybe they do know their real names, but their parents aren't around anymore, so they could have whatever name they wanted. Either way, this book sounds intriguing. Thank you for the review.

I'm intrigued by the strange character names. However, frequent changes of perspective is slightly off putting. You've made this sound like an exciting futuristic novel. Thanks for the review!

Enjoyed your review, though I do think that you might have mentioned the graphic nature of part of the text, which might upset some readers.

That was a great review. I particularly loved the in depth analysis of the characters. You explained very well the characters you liked and the ones you hated with enough reasons.

Ms. Basi's talent in building worlds was also second to none. I was in constant awe, astounded by her ability to create scenery. Every time I read about a new location, I felt as if I was really there, resulting in a very positive immersive experience. I could actually see the Blocks in the distance, the sun glistening off of their shiny surfaces. I could smell the deer roasting over the fire in the open field. I could hear the clicking of thousands, if not millions, of roaches as they walked around in the dirt. Everything was so realistic that I actually experienced a few jump scares as I read certain scenes while sitting on my living room couch late at night.
This is one of the highest praises an author can receive, in my opinion. It's amazing how involved you were in the story and that's a huge accomplishment by the author. Although I don't enjoy sci-fi, I love your enthusiasm for the book and I'm glad the characters are so well developed, as it's an often overlooked aspect in this kind of novels.
Thank you for such a spirited and compelling review!
