I liked the first poem, 'Where I Am From'. I like that it operates on two levels, one being the geographical area she is from, the other being the events and experiences that have shaped her life. Powerful stuff. Thanks for your review!

I can't wait to read this book. Poetry is always beautiful, but this comes from true experiences and it's words should reveal all the pain and heartache of loss and suffering. Nothing is more powerful than the form of art expressed through personal endurance, especially traumatic! Very enticing review!

This sounds very emotional and heartbreaking. Although we see it in the news, this is more personal because it’s the authors own experience. Thanks for your review!

This seems like such an emotional collection about the author's experience during the Syrian civil war. I definitely think this is something I would enjoy.

Since they're only ten poems, i wish you could summarize each poem to give us a glimpse of the main themes. Otherwise your analysis of the book and poetry was good.

Upon reading this sample, I was hooked. Rana's emotion emanates off the pages and her poems are flawlessly crafted. She was able to convey the deep sadness she felt in each poem. I particularly loved "When my House Fell." Thanks for the wonderful review!

This book really helps you get a feel for what the author went through living in Syria. I didn’t find it took me that long to figure out the secondary meaning in her poetry. I’m sure it took a lot to write these 10 poems the last one is my favorite. I agree this book does deserve 4 stars, if not more. This was a great review. :(

I really do not like poetry but I would read this book because I'd like to see what the story has to offer. It sounds like a four star worthy book. Nice review too.

To say this review analysed the book fully is an understatement! You have provided cutting edge analysis which really shows what's happening. Though its a poem/collection of poems , this review has highlighted the authors sophistication in articulating the events in Syria.
I might really have to grab this book to have information about Syria through it!
Thanks for the brilliant review

The opening piece is a heartbreaker. The suffering inherent to war is palpable. Why do we keep doing it?

Thanks for the moving review.
