Where do you get your books ?

I am a cheapskate so I get them mostly from the exchange shelf at work, on loan from my sister (who is not a cheapskate), out of the charity bin at the grocery store (suggested donation one dollar), the yearly library benefit sale (a couple bucks for hardback, a dollar for paperback or---later in the day---all you can stuff in a bag for a couple bucks) and the clearance sections of my local bookstores. I also read a lot of e-books and get them free from places like Project Gutenberg, Munseys, and even Barnes and Noble or ITunes. You can find amazing classic literature out there for nothing at all. I just got a nice hard cover edition of "Rhett Butler's People" at the "Cabin Fever Sale" at Mr. Paperback.

I used to get a lot of books from Barnes and Noble's "bargain deals" shelves. However, since moving away for grad school I have discovered the amazingness of Half Price Books, which I affectionately refer to as HPB. I love it. Their 1 and 2 dollar clearance shelves are my book heaven. I found the majority of books on my list in the clearance rack and if they weren't there then they were at a really good price on the normals shelves. I love it so much that my spare bedroom is starting to look like a library.

I have gone to a few library book sales and have gotten great deals there too. Once I hit a jack pot of a whole bag of books for $2, as many bags as you want. Amazing. I also get a lot of books that incant find elsewhere on Amazon. I usually watch the prices and try to get them cheap. I am a book buying machine.

I get my books from yard sales, thrift stores and the friends of the public library. Well, I also check out quite a few books from the library each year, but in building my own collection, all of the above.

I get my books from the books sale at the public library, the book sale is 4 times a year every 3 months, and it's $1/bag

I get mine from either Amazon or second hand shops. Just this week i found a beautiful hard back, gilt edged copy of Wuthering Heights (my fave) that has never been read, and it only cost me £2

I have been trying to pare down the number of printed books on the shelves in the basement so I have been migrating to a Kindle keyboard although most of the books come from Baen's monthly bundles. The bundles are great deals and have enabled me to lower my price limit from $8 to more than half of if the limits previous value to $3.50. Now I will not pay more than $3.50 for anything. I can get that so why would I ever pay more.

Either the used books on amazon online and at a llocal book swap store that's got like wall to wall shelves with tons of books!

I mainly download my books off the internet. I also get them from the library or buy them cheap at the library book sale.

The newport beach public library, in CA, there's a small bookstore inside that sells books for $1 or 2 for $1, then there's the book sale they hold every 3 months, where you can fill up as many bags as you want, and it's only $1 a bag,..... amazing sale, amazing library

I fear that if I found a book fair like you have in your area that my husband would have to move his stuff out to make room for the books! So many books, so little time!

When I buy books I get them from Chapters and Amazon. More and more though I go to the public library. Only for new books though. Reading old library books disgusts me as they usually have boogers in them.
