Something Happened Today by Paul E Kotz reminds us that amid the daily grind and hassles of our lives, there are gifts of beneficial lessons to be learned and there are true moments of inspiration and victories, however subtle and small, everyday. Let's cherish the good things we have done and the progress we have made, and then use them to energize ourselves for the future. In moments of loss, defeat or failure, we question our competence and abilities. Let's not rush to wholesale judgment of ourselves. Analyze where we have done well and where we have fallen short. In his stories, Kotz is telling us life is not all good, not all bad, all the time. I think he wants to remind us to value the good things and to treat the setbacks as lessons. Everytime we learn from a setback, a problem or a loss, we gain something. That moment of appreciation, that human capacity for reflection, is a miracle as it renews the spirit. He also gives insights on how we can arrange our lives in such a way that the good outweighs the bad.

Seems like a self help book that actually is helpful to the reader. It doesn't seem to have any false airs but takes a tone which enables the reader to connect with it.

Great review! Self-help books often get a lot of flack for good reasons: they abuse buzzwords, vague statements, platitudes, and all sorts of nonsense to convince the reader they're reading something profound. I like the down-to-earth approach this author seems to take, grounding his insights in relatable personal experiences. It sounds like an excellent book to keep by your side and read bits of it before going to bed, early in the morning, or whenever you feel down or bored.

This sounds like a very interesting book! The chapter titles sound quite funny, and the overall concept reminds me of the Chicken Soup series. Great review!

Your review was very informative, thank you! :tiphat: I know I will enjoy this compilation of uplifting stories. If only everyone could slow down and appreciate the small everyday miracles in their lives. We would all be a lot happier.
