Wagner - Der Ring des Nibelungen (in Dual Language)

Post by bluefoxicy »

The Internet repeatedly tells me that Wagner's Ring Cycle was published many, many times in translations, dual language versions, and the like.

Does anyone actually know where to get a dual language version? Typically we're talking about a book where the left page is <unintelligible garbage> and the right side is <same thing in a language you understand>. The best dual-language readers have a propensity toward comprehensible but not-great secondary language: the English may be lackluster, almost-literal translations just slightly touched up to make them make sense. Also they may contain a customized dictionary in the back, or margin dictionaries to introduce new words.

I like such things in original language, and dual-language readers are like Rosetta stones. Wagner's Ring Cycle is probably the most significant piece of literature in its class; original language reading is a lot better than dealing with translations.
