The strength and character of Mrs. Ellis is remarkable. This is an autobiography I cannot wait to read.

This sounds like it will be an interesting first hand history story or lesson. It also shows how much progress has been made in todays world with equal opportunity.

Your review is absolutely informative and riveting! I enjoyed every bit of it. I love reading autobiographies because of the real life experiences they share. I'll definitely add this to my library.

Janice S. Ellis' From Liberty to Magnolia: In Search of the American Dream revealed to me the extent of racism that existed in those days. It's shocking to note that even among people of color, their social statuses differed based on their shades. Janice is an inspiration, particularly because she went to the hills and really went after what she wanted in life.

It's sad how there was so much injustice! I like that the author had a strong sense of accomplishment. Based on this review, she seemed to be determined, and that's a good thing. Nice review.

While this book sounds somewhat difficult in terms of subject matter, the strength of the main character would overtake that, I imagine. She didn't let oppression destroy her spirit. Not an easy task. Thanks for the great review!

The author's life journey is quite inspirational considering she had to face racial segregation and gender inequality every step of the way. I'm ready to read more and look at the book as both a lesson and a warning. Thank you for a wonderful review!

This book is an autobiography of Janice S. Ellis in which she walks us through her life. It seems to be a gripping read about how she has overcome her obstacles as a black woman and worked her way to higher & higher positions. I may pick up this educational, informative & riveting read one day. Congrats on BOTD!

Based on the review this book is not something that I would enjoy reading. I am not a fan of reading biographies/memoirs. I also don't want to read about abuse, racism, sexism or the many hardships in the story. I will pass on reading this book.

I'm glad this story rings well. It's a shame if it didn't met its reader's expectations when it has lot to offer. Thank you!
