This story takes place during WWI. It talks about the sacrifices families made when it came to the war. Katy seems like an interesting character, but I don't generally enjoy books of this genre.

The cover of today's BOTD immediately caught my attention - it's so beautiful! Thank you for the wonderful review and the free book. Set during the time of WWI, emotions run deep in this story of love, war, family, and friends. Thank you, again! :-)

I also enjoyed that opening line as well. I also would love to have a library one day as big as the one that Katy was cleaning.

I love historical fiction books, and this book makes the historical account entertaining. The romance is a good blend too.

This book is part of a trilogy of love stories planned by the author. It speaks about a young woman during the World War I who steps out of a small and domestic world. Thanks for the review!

Sounds like a great story, I think I would just need to read it a bit at a time as stories of war tend to affect me greatly.

A very well written review giving perfect details about the book. A great source for experiencing the sacrifices and struggles of the people during wars. The book also describes the emotional trauma that people suffer from at times for war.

War is so devastating and it is so easy to question what did the men die for in the world wars. Katy sounds like a great character as she longs for more in life and representing the loved ones left behind as their men and boys leave for war. It's great to know that the author was descriptive and that the emotions added a layer of depth to the story. Glad to hear that the multiple storylines were done well, but it's too bad about the grammatical issues. Not sure if I can handle the gory moments, but glad you enjoyed this one! Thanks for sharing!

I like how you've judged the review fairly and even though you really liked the themes and story, you couldn't ignore the grammatical issues. I also like the detail you went into describing the plot. Great review!
