This book sounds very interesting. An emotional story about World War I told from the perspective of a bookworm like Katy. A book like this one should be professionally edited.

I like this. It reminds me of the beginning of Little Women a bit and I hope to read more about how Katy copes with her husband being in the trenches.

I really enjoyed the sample. Women have come a long way from their inferior status in the early 20th century. As to the Great War, we now know it was useless as most wars are.

I wonder what awaits Katy, Jem, and Charles.

I love books that pose philosophical questions especially when there are really no answers and war certainly poses many of those questions. Thanks for the review.

I love how the author used multiple story lines and characters to weave together a sense of reality. And, men or human in general love peace and solace, but once we don't find it where we expected, we tend to turn other ways, I guess that prompt the decision of Jem to join a worthless war. I look forward to reading the book. Great review!

A moving review of what sounds like a dramatic book. WWI has never had the great coverage that WWII enjoyed, although it was truly a horrific war. Written from the point of view of Kattie, in the village at home, and also from her husband in the trenches, it sounds like this book really captures all the faces of the war. A pity about some of the errors in grammar, but they don't sound too irritating to me.

I am not really attracted to war stories especially historical ones. Still, "Daffodils" by Alex Martin seems like a very good read. I might check it out.

Jem and Katy's story sounds a must-read for fans of historical romance novels. I am glad the characters are realistic and imperfect, but it is a pity about the grammatical errors. Unfortunately, this is not my genre; therefore, I will pass on this one. Thank you for the detailed review!

Between the themes of sacrifice and that of the effects that WW1 had on those left behind, this book sounds awesome.

This war story and Kathy looks like a good read even though I am not a big fan of war stories. I like the fact that this book triggers emotion.

This book is a very different and welcomed take on World War I. I did not know much about the "war to end all wars" until high school and even now I cannot make sense of some of it. I think that World War I is the perfect example of why conflicts should be avoided and diplomacy should be used more often. I am glad that this book gives great detail as to the sufferings of everyone not just the soldiers.
