Set in the time of WWI, emotions run deep in this story of love, war, family, and friends, is this captivating story of Katy. Sounds like an enjoyable read
Feeling upset sometimes may be unavoidable, but acting distressed is always optional.

Delaney35 wrote: 06 Apr 2019, 12:26 The opening of this book has Katy sitting “on the topmost step of the library ladder, completely absorbed in a book". The opening line gives a great sense of the rest of the book. The language is simple but descriptive enough to create a vivid image in the reader’s mind.
I also found myself drawn in by the opening scene, and even took note of it in one of my notebooks. I agree that the author does well with painting a vivid picture of his characters and their situations. Thanks for your review! While I was on the fence about reading the rest of it even though I was captured by the first 2 chapters, your insistence that the emotion carries throughout the story makes me want to read it :)

It's hard when a really good book has so many errors. I'm glad the characters were relatable and complex, and the story was moving. Thanks for the review.

I appreciate your age range recommendation because I was wondering if this would be an excellent teenage historical fiction. It sounds as if it would be an appropriate book to pair up with American History. The human and emotional content will help students connect with the characters.

The character of Katy seems well-developed. The storyline with a backdrop of World War I seems intriguing. Hope grammatical mistakes will be corrected in further editions. Congrats on BOTD!

The character of Katie/ Katy sounds amazing. The storyline looks right about the war and everything. War is just a way to destroy everything. Anyways Congrats On BoTD!

A historical fiction book that takes place during War World I about a woman trying to find her niche sounds interesting. A brilliant, motivationai, and educational book.

Thank you for an eye opening review. The book doesn't appeal to me as much as it did after reading the review. You presented all the concepts needed to gain a reader's attention to check this book out. Congratulations!

It was called the war to end all wars. However, it is now called World War I because there was a second one. Those slaughtered in the trenches, fighting over a few yards of land, seemingly died for nothing. Their families lost a son, a husband, or a brother to a stray bullet or a grenade. They neither gained nor lost enough ground to matter, and war did not end. The question is, what did they die for?
What a strong and compelling start for your review! You managed to completely capture my attention.
I love reading about complex characters too, and war is such a complicated subject to approach that it would be unfair to give such a book flat or unidimensional characters.
Can't wait to read it! Thanks!

The emotional depth of this book sounds amazing, but I will have to pick the right day to read it due to the heavy content. War scenes get to me sometimes. Thanks for the review!

I like how the justification of going to war is brought to question. With people seeming to die aimlessly for unnecessary wars. Thanks for the review.
