I liked Delaney35's sincere review of Daffodils. It captures the sadness in the book and the meaninglessness of World War1. I really enjoy historical novels and want to find out how her husband's joining the war helps Katy deal with questions plaguing her worldview.

This story line reminds of The Book Thief. I've only seen the movie and am yearning to get a hold of the book - I feel that the book would be quite a bit better than the movie. But these two books seem to have a similar plotline, and I know I would enjoy it immensely. Thanks for a great review!

War novels aren't my favorite sub genre of historical fiction, but I did love All Quiet on the Western Front, so I might enjoy this one as well. I'm interested in seeing one of the World Wars from a woman's perspective after her husband leaves for the war, and Katy sounds like a character I can really relate to.
