I love the detail you go into when outlining the plot. I already feel like I know some of the characters and this would make for an easier and more understandable read. Great review!

I think that, even though I generally avoid historical fiction, this novel is extremely interesting in the fact that it can stand alone as part of a series. It seems that the themes of friendship, corruption, and self-sacrifice are prominent throughout the novel, and I may be interested in such a novel. Congrats on BOTD!

Thanks for the review, but I really dislike historical fiction, especially when it pertains to war or the aftermath of, so I have no more interest in reading this than I did the Warramunga series.

While I normally enjoy espionage novels, I'm not sure I would care for a narrator.

It sounds in review like very interesting and high quality writing, but unfortunately, I don't have much interest in anything oriental. Be that culture or history, it is jyst not my thing, I guess. But congrats on BOTD, anyways!

Excellent review - bravo! Although today's BOTD isn't one for me, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your review. Thank you! Embedded with culture, this highly rated, stand-alone novel sounds like a great choice for fans of historical fiction. Much appreciated and keep up the great work! :-)

Post-war China isn't a topic that's usually explored in World War II novels, let alone with the level of detailed research the author seems to have engaged in, so that's quite exciting. It's also good to know this can be read as a standalone experience since I haven't read the Warramunga trilogy. Thanks for the review!

This historical fiction with such in-depth detailing about culture is a treat for the readers. The opium smuggling and the political relationships in the aftermath of World War II has piqued my interest. Adding this to my reading list. Wonderful review.

Sounds like an excellent follow up to the Warramunga trilogy. I will be adding this book to the "gifts for my father" list.

Action, suspense and intrigue in an adventure novel: what more can you ask for? With an attractive book cover, the book surely catch a lot of attention of readers looking for a wild journey in Asia, America and Australia. Congrats!

Thanks for your review. It sounds interesting to me cuz it gets really boring to read the history book without any adventurous story. Even if it is a historical fiction book, it is the book with something adventurous, action, n much more. I'm gonna read it to kill some time.
A wonderful book and a cup of black tea in my hands make my day joyful! :tiphat:

I really enjoyed the review. The way they talk about the plot in the book, how it's delivered in third person with many story lines going at the same time. I'm really excited to finish this book. Awesome summary and review!

Greg really has his way with words. Just like the other books, Conflict on the Yangtze by Greg Kater sounds amazing. I can't wait to read and explore this book. Nice review.
