Yes, that was a very inspiring trait. He set acadmic goals for himself and did his best to achieve them. Even when he wasn't the best student or when he was discriminated against, he never let those challenges hinder his goals.

Yes, I agree it helps many readers to see the journey he took. For some, finding one aspect of the authors life relatable makes it easier to understand the challenges he faced and what level of resolve is required to overcome them.Susmita Biswas wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 22:42 Of course, the author was inspiring because he succeeded after a lot of difficulties.

He came from a poverty-struck family and his sister became one of his responsibilities along with the chores of the house. He did all that and still maintained his academic excellence, that is definitely inspiring.

It also showed the kind of tenacity required to overcome the challenges that the author faced. It was inspirng and a lesson for everyone about to give in to the challenges they're facing.cassibear13 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 19:37 I think his ability to keep trying even though things were against him is something that inspired me. It shows that you can accomplish your goals if you put your heart and soul into it.

That is definitely an inspiring way to view the author's childhood. The odds were against him from the start, and fate kept dropping challenges in his path but he exhibited defiance and resilience to get through all of them. That is inspiring.

I noted when he was the best student at school and the principal refused to acknowledge his achievement. He did not let this stop him and he did not let himself get trapped into resentment. It was inspiring how he ignored the discrimination and continued to perform his best.

He never shied away from righting a wrong even if it meant derailing his academic persuits, like in the case of MIT. I found this to be quite inspiring.

It was definitely inspiring seeing the author maintain his goals and achieve them despite the many obstacles set upon his path including discrimination and racism.
