In the book Life Before by K.L. Romo, the audience experiences a dual life through the main characters. The transition from one side of the story to the other is beautifully done and the characters blend together seamlessly. Experiencing the controversy of being a harlot firsthand makes this book chilling and the switch to empty nester gives the reader a reprieve from the excitement and danger from the Life Before.

After reading this thrilling tale, I would definitely have to rate it as a 4 out of 4. My rating is based on the intricacies of the plot and the overall all lovely writing that was beautifully edited. What I loved most about this book is the way that the characters rationalize what is happening through concrete proof and how they react based on these experiences. Heartache is a big part of what made me loved yet hate the book at the same time. Expressing pain in such detail was agonizing for the reader, yet still a sensational thrill.

Throughout the book there are moments that are erotic, as to be expected from a book focusing on the life of a harlot. These moments encapsulate the troubles of the women put in these circumstances even in today's light. Even those who choose the life in the book end up either regretting it or having to come to peace with it when they leave the life behind.

With this being said the audience I would suggest definitely would have to be mature enough to handle scenes of violence, nudity, and sexual content. Personally I would rate this book to be ages 18+. Also the content is geared more towards women and especially women who may have experienced this lifestyle, or contemplating it. On the other hand those who have had traumatic experiences with stalkers, abuse, and blackouts should probably find a different read as this may be triggering.

I would recommend this book to any one of my colleagues for an intense read. It is a daring and marvelous book that I believe deserves my rating of 4 out of 4. The audience is select, yet wide enough to be widely diverse. Subtracting out those who may find the book triggering still leaves a vast market to sell to as well as interest the readers into other books of similar content or written by the same author. Thoroughly engaging and above all a fantastic read.

This sounds like an interesting exploration of both the life of a sex worker and their life after they leave the trade.
