I sampled the book and would have to agree with the rhythm of the story. I am generally very good at finding a cadance while reading poetry, but I struggled to get a nice flow going with this one. The rhyme scheme felt choppy to me

Sounds like just the type of book I need to get for my little ones. Most children's books shy away from topics such as bullying and abuse. I'm glad that someone bit the bullet. Great review.

Thanks for your review! The bully on the cover almost looks like a scary clown. I hope that June will be successful in the sandcastle contest. It's admirable that she continues to try even though she is being bullied. Teaching children how to handle adversity like bullying is a vital skill. It's a shame about the inconsistent rhyming pattern.

Great story for teaching children about bullying. It is not only good for the reader to learn about how to deal with bullying but it is good for children who bully others to read and understand how it makes others feel. This story had an adorable rhyming, poetic stance throughout which makes the book easy to read and fun. The story dove deep into how bullying can make people feel depressed and worthless. However, it also shows that sometimes it only takes the support of one kid person to let them know they are loved and strong. This story shows bullying from multiple angles so the reader can view it from different perspectives. I think this book is a solid 3 out of 4 stars.

Bullying is a serious problem that children face in their day-to-day lives. A book written to promote anti-bullying message is a nice attempt to make children aware of the horrors of bullying. Since it is written in the form of rhymes, they find it interesting too. Good review. Congrats on BOTD!

This sure racks up the points in my book. It is important to teach children how to stand up to bullies from an early age, as it is very rampant. I am so glad the author had the main character as a girl, making it easier for little girls and boys to relate. Thank you for your review.

I love this concept! Bullying is a huge problem and books are a great way to show compassion and kindness toward classmates. The blue people are a little unusual, but I agree with aacodreanu that kids can come up with some pretty spectacular explanations. Thanks for a great review!

I really enjoyed this book and the message that it teaches the reader. In schools, you see the signs in the hallways that say" This is a no-bully school." From past experiences with my nieces in their schools, elementary to middle school and then high school this is not always true. Sure the schools try their best to abide by the policy of no bullying, but there are flaws in the system. This book could be read by the students to remind them how bad bullying is.

Out Loud by Luz Agudelo is an illustrated book for #Children that imparts significant #Lessons about #Bullying and #Friendship. The story follows June (a girl who gets bullied) and Jonas (a kid who follows her to her hidden place) as they try their best to save Gull (a stranded seagull) from a strange monster.

That it is well-written is a great addition.

I also wonder why June and Jonas are blue in color (on the cover photo).
