Its doesn't change my understanding that much but it helps improve in complicated areas in the Bible. Its a good read.

Reading the Old Testament leaves me with more questions than answers. I haven't read the book, but when I do I hope it will provide answers to my most nagging questions.

The book seeks to make more of those indecipherable passages understandable, and I hope you get a chance to read this book and see that for yourself.

Hat is definitely a more apt way of explaining the book's ultimate goal, I hope you enjoyed the book and gained something from that new way of viewing Biblical passages.

I am not at all religious so reading Old Testament passages does not affect me either way. I just see this as someone else's interpretation of the bible.

I don't agree with the assessment that this is just someone else's interpretation. The author did not change any of the passages in the Old Testament scriptures or change their meaning. The author only expounded on themes and context in a way to make the book more understandable.

As someone who was raised in a religious home, but later became less religious I have always yearned to understand things that I do not know about Christianity. I think that sometimes the Bible can seem daunting to read and understand which is why I commend the author for creating this book. I agree with the other book club members that the story of Cain and Abel was fascinating to me.

You just proved my point. All I basically said is no two people think exactly the same(the way the author understands different events told in the bible) and you assumed I meant he changed passages. No, I say exactly what I mean so there is no point in over analyzing what I say.
At the same time, I'm sorry. Maybe if I explained better you may not have gotten the wrong impression.

Yes, I agree that the Old Testament can sometimes be hard to decipher and that the author did an amazing job making this book quite easy to read. I also enjoyed the story of Cain and Abel and found new themes in this book.

I hope you found this book adequate for deciphering and broadening most of the challenging Old Testament passages.

Thank you for agreeing to disagree. I think an author's personal life shines thought in their writings at least a bit no matter how much research they do. But you do not seem to agree and that's your opinion.
I'm glad this debate is over.
