The book seeks to make more of those indecipherable passages understandable, and I hope you get a chance to read this book and see that for yourself.Michelle Fred wrote: ↑06 Aug 2019, 09:04 Reading the Old Testament leaves me with more questions than answers. I haven't read the book, but when I do I hope it will provide answers to my most nagging questions.

Hat is definitely a more apt way of explaining the book's ultimate goal, I hope you enjoyed the book and gained something from that new way of viewing Biblical passages.prospero360 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2019, 16:08 While I enjoyed the book, I wouldn't say it changed my understanding of the Bible. It only showed me a different way of viewing things in the Bible.

I don't agree with the assessment that this is just someone else's interpretation. The author did not change any of the passages in the Old Testament scriptures or change their meaning. The author only expounded on themes and context in a way to make the book more understandable.amjohnson13mommy wrote: ↑06 Aug 2019, 11:11 I am not at all religious so reading Old Testament passages does not affect me either way. I just see this as someone else's interpretation of the bible.

At the same time, I'm sorry. Maybe if I explained better you may not have gotten the wrong impression.

Yes, I agree that the Old Testament can sometimes be hard to decipher and that the author did an amazing job making this book quite easy to read. I also enjoyed the story of Cain and Abel and found new themes in this book.Katherine Smith wrote: ↑06 Aug 2019, 16:06 As someone who was raised in a religious home, but later became less religious I have always yearned to understand things that I do not know about Christianity. I think that sometimes the Bible can seem daunting to read and understand which is why I commend the author for creating this book. I agree with the other book club members that the story of Cain and Abel was fascinating to me.
