Perhaps it will be interesting to someone. This author has many other books in Russian, mainly about witches and cats. One book is about the adventures of a space witch (something like space opera\fantasy mix), the other is about a cat that could turn into a human. Another book is called "Go to Hell, Witch!" It's about devils and witches. Unfortunately, all of them are written only in Russian.

I do wonder if Kotik being called Kitty could be because of the seemingly Russian influence on the language used? The only thing is, I know that that's usually reserved for women or something. Very puzzling but worth looking into, I think. Great review!

Based on the review and the comments it seems the world the character is transported to is a mesh of several different cultures. Quick definition search shows that some words used are actual words from several languages not just Russian. But based on the review I'll need to give this a read.
