Sophia is a young girl who lives with her dear parents and brother. She has a special relationship with her grandfather who visits them occasionally. She would rather want him to move with them, but he likes his space where he created a life with his wife who has passed away. Sophia loves music; she almost lives for it and wants to pursue a career in the field. To chase her dreams, she applies for auditions in New York. The only problem is her nightmares that deny in leaving her ever since the accident four years ago. The accident which changed her young crush, Jeremy’s life and ever since guilt has been her best friend.

Overcoming her fears and guilt she convinces her family to let her move to New York where she meets Dante Brown who is almost always hypnotized by her voice and singing. Through him, Sophia finds herself pushed into a world of semi-sirens, muses and chasers. A fact from Greek mythology now proves true, and she finds answers to all her questions, including her bizarre need of and comfort from water. The constant need for water, a fountain and a humidifier in her room, all make sense to her. But with all the answers there lies a danger, danger of being captivated and killed.

Music to My Ears by Heidi M. Simone is the first book in The Sirens Series and is a perfect blend of romance, myth, and thrill. The plot is carefully woven and draws you in right from the prologue. The author does not stretch at any point and despite her to the point analysis of the protagonist’s situations; the reader is constantly wrapped into this fictional world. The romance between the two characters is shown as exceptionally pure and at the same time believable. The characters are well framed and even the minor characters come out in promising colors that I think is going to be a strong base for the following books in the series.

The writing style is lucid and any reader will just fall in love with the book instantly. There will be no effort required on your part to stay with the book assuming you do like reading fiction. The author makes it all so believable that at some point you start questioning yourself if the real-life police could be disguised as muses too. I am sure readers who like fiction are going to love this, but if you think you are going to stick to the fine line that draws between fiction and reality then I am not sure if you can fall for this amazing book.

The book is professionally edited too. As far as I could track, there was only one error in the entire book and I am sure that you will be so engrossed in the book you will just not notice it. I simply loved this short book that made me fall for this author and her mind that weaved this mesmerizing story, which is not just unique but also well-executed in its writing. I will rate the book 4 out of 4 stars for its amazing theme, build of romance, a little thrill, and the beautiful end. By the end, you will want more of Sophia, and I am sure the second book shall be very promising in this regard.

This sounds like a wonderful book, a new Percy Jackson for a slightly older audience. I can't wait to read it.
