Fabulous review! I loved The Great Gatsby, so I'm interested in how this novel will show the other side of the era. Sounds like this book truly does have everything...though the sexual harassment from the lesbians seems rather sketchy, particularly if the sexual harassment implied in the book from men is glossed over.

This book sounded so promising to me until you mentioned the treatment of lesbians in it. I do not believe all lesbians are saints and a book that had one woman who was a bad actor who happened to be a lesbian wouldn't be a big deal, but to paint every lesbian character in the book that way would bother me to no end.

This is a murder mystery romance set in the 1930s. I like how it was compared to the Great Gatsby. It's the same time period, but not at all the same experience.

I’m in the mood for a light mystery, so I am going to add this book to my list. Although I’m not particularly interested in this era, the characters have quickly drawn me in. Thank you for your review.

Think I'll skip this one. I like historical fiction and mysteries, but the plot of this one sounds a bit weak. I also don't like the sound of the stereotypical characters. Enjoyed reading your review, though, so thanks for that!

This book sounds like a "must-read;" historical fiction, romance, and a mystery is a great combination. I also like that it can be read as a standalone even though it is the first in series of four books. Thanks for your candid review!

The name of the book gives away its main theme, romance. But I am happy to see that it has a mystery part as well. Congratulations on being BOTD and thanks for the free giveaway

I really would want to read this book for a few reasons. I would wish to know how Henrietta lands into taxi dancing and also whether her friend ever gets away with the murder and also will she be lured into a trap by the inspector. Very interesting read.

This sounds like a book I would enjoy. The review is well done and makes a good case for teading the book. I have put it in my TBR pile. Congrsts on BOTD. I hope the described bigotry is not the authors own. But just a sign of the times.

Thanks for the review, but I don't care for either historical fiction or romance, so the two together is a definite 'no', and the cliché lesbian characterizations you mentioned also don't help.

I love debut fiction books and so A Girl Like You by Michelle Cox is a yes for me. Does Henrietta come up with any useful information while working as an undercover? I have to read the book to find out. Thanks for the free copy. Great review.
Books are beautiful.
