The book is scholarly, innovative, and understandable. Further, its themes and information are relevant to a vital question in human existence: how are we able to execute such inhumanity, and by extension, how can we stop this from happening again?
A well-organized, short book that will appeal to those who enjoy non-fiction books. Based on your review, it sounds a thought-provoking read; plus, it is well edited, iinnovative, and understandable. Unfortunately, this is not my genre, so I will pass on this one. Thank you for the detailed review!

These are the questions I ask myself every day: Why do people engage in cruel and senseless behavior? How can a human being think that these crimes against humanity are okay? I commend the author for writing such an excellent book!

I agree with his argument on the whole. But it can be interpreted that Hitler is a point of reference to study Hitler and vice versa--an insinuation that verges on a sidesplitting level of ludicrousness. Comparing Trump with Hitler betrays a mistake in thinking the Holocaust will not be minimized by doing so, and that's a definite no-no for me.

Philosophy and sociology both are definitely not my strongest sides. To tell the truth I am often lost in all those concepts they introduce. What is worst in current book's case it additionally involves Holocaust making it 100% guarantee I won't pick it.

The book may be intimidating but your review made it interesting and light. Not usually a fan of these topics but this might be worthy of looking into. Thanks for a good review!

I noticed in the sample that the author did provide quite a bit of ideas to think about deeply. I've always believed that we should learn from history as to not repeat those same mistakes. I've often thought since the 2016 election that a knowledge of some history should be mandatory for all our presidents and legislators because it seems that we should be past discrimination. I do plan to read this book because it does seem to contain some intriguing ideas.

I like that the author uses his personal experience as a Holocaust survivor in order to find out why these events happen and to heal himself.
Feeling upset sometimes may be unavoidable, but acting distressed is always optional.

I think this book sounds a little too scholarly for my taste. Perhaps it would be a good resource for those studying sociology.

Wow! This book definitely portrays a new view of things. The author's concept of space (Hidden Space, Closed Space, Transcendent Space, and Meaningful Space) is one I would love to read more on. Thanks for the review.

I'll agree that this book could seem intimidating at first. Its in-depth writing is technical, and my first impression was that it could be a heavy read. However, after reading some of it, I believe it is a useful guide to deeper understanding. I live in a state with one of the highest suicide rates in the nation, and if this book can shed some light on 'why' this happens, I can use the information. Thanks for a great review!

It sounds like I can learn a lot in this book - it's scholarly yet easy to read. I would like to understand more about the cultural context that allowed the Holocaust to happen. Putting in on my to-read shelf!

My gut says that I might find this philosophical book a bit boring, so I will pass on this one. But I am pretty sure that this will be appealing to those who prefer the genre. Congratulations on being BOTD

This sounds like a pretty amazing book. I am so inspired by people who can take their own experiences and use them to look at society as a whole and to try and make a difference by helping people understand the context that led to those terrible events.
