Normally, I don't really admire books that include serious issues but are mostly comedies, but this book sounds like it has a perfect combination of both. Great review!

I have a copy of today's BOTD! Thank you for the review. :-) Filled with dry humor and well-developed characters, this satirical read is fit for teens on up. Join them in their quest as they tackle issues such as global warming, poverty, and death, all while battling the obstacles and difficulties of growing up. Keep up the amazing work and thanks again!

I've found is often hard to strike the right balance between humor and serious issues in this kind of books, and it's commendable that the author achieves it without seeming disrespectful. I do wonder how the "mildly paedophilic" character is approached, though.
Thank you for your enthusiastic review!

When you said they pretended to be religious because I had a crush on a nun made me laugh out loud. Definitely going to finish this book. Thanks for the great review!

Thanks for your review! The boys' antics sound hilarious. I can't imagine the reactions of the women they tried to sell their perfume to. I admire the author's ability to weave more serious issues into the plot. Adding a sick father and an overworked and impoverished mother really helps to deepen the book. It's also nice that the author included Indian influences to the book to contribute to its diversity.

I adore Basi - both the Blocks series and Seven at Two Past Five were phenomenal, and what I've read of Orbs so far has been great! - and I actually have a copy of this from last time it was BotD, so I'll have to find the time to read this tale of young boys trying to help everyone.

I have to agree with you that this author has a knack for making her characters so life like with their grand schemes to tackle world problems. The sample pages had such quick witted humor as you have described here. And it seems as the boys set out to solve problems, they seem to cause more. Thank you for the insight to this one. Sounds hilarious!

This books sounds hysterical. I love how the boys come up with so many ludicrous schemes. I also like that the seriousness of their parents' issues bring it all back down to earth.

Serious issues, presented with lots of dark humour, and there is nothing you disliked about the book? It sounds like this might be a winner! Thank you so much for this review!

Thank you for your review of Masterminders. The sample available had me laughing out loud. It reminded me little of a cartoon series, imagining these shenanigans. Thank you for your recommendation.
