Seems like a thoughtful book. I think the author has done a great job describing her first-hand experiences. The book has a touch of reality to it. I suppose some immigrants would highly relate to the book. Thank you for the amazing review.

What an undertaking by this author to trace her family roots through research. It sounds like this family certainly had its times of adversity but this author shows the triumph can come to those who persevere. Thanks for the insight into this one.

I enjoy reading books like these. Once we are aware and understand what our ancestors sacrificed or pursed so their offspring can hopefully have a better future, I think, brings encouragement and hope to whatever current situation each one of is dealing with. Thanks for the encouraging review!

In the pursuit of a better life for themselves and their children, the lineage linked to the author immigrated to Spain, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and the USA. The experiences were different for all but they managed to build a life for themselves. This is an enlightening read with the immigration that is happening worldwide.

Blanca M. De La Rosa highlights what immigration entails and gives illustrations like when Jose had to move to Cuba due to the requirement of Spanish government to serve in the military.
The preview gives a clear breakdown of the book. I just want to read it now.

I thought this book would be one I would like to read soon! One of my physicians and her immediate family of her husband and 3 children have asylum in the USA just a few years ago. They came from Mexico, where the Communists took over and murdered her mother. I was interested in the asylum seekers from Mexico, and this book would help me to understand my doctor and her current immediate family as they look for freedom from their former country.

I am familiar with the experiences of immigrants as I have relatives and friends who have dared to make it in foreign shores. But each experience is unique. I won't mind hearing Blanca's story.

Immigrating to a new country is an overwhelming challenge which one can never adequately prepare for. The Review shows that a wide spectrum of people will benefit from reading this book. It is excellent news that this memoir is so helpful.

This is such a timely topic, and the story is quite interesting. While every immigration experience is unique, there are some common threads and there is always something to learn. I look forward to reading the rest of this book. Thank you for your review.
