I was disappointed to see your low rating of this book. I grew up in the country and was getting interested in Erika and Reeve! Thanks for your honest analysis of this book. Nicely done!

I like the plotline of this coming of age story featuring Erika and Reeve, especially how Erika grows to be a confident, mature young woman. Thanks for the thorough review.

I like the premise of the book, and in younger years I was fond of 'girl and her horse' books, but it sounds like the author had a basic storyline she wasn't entirely sure how to flesh out. Thus it ended up just feeling rushed through. It's unfortunate, but not necessarily a feature that the YA audience would much notice. Interesting review. Thanks!

A young girl evolving into a confident woman, horseback riding, a love interest, and a Christian theme...this book reminds me of those nice family movies that were airing on TV each Sunday morning when I was younger. I would really enjoy reading it! Great review!

kandscreeley wrote: 16 Sep 2019, 19:27 I've read short books that still feel developed, but this doesn't seem to be one. The author needs to expand on some of the ideas presented. Hopefully, it can be fixed. Thanks!
Short books can definitely be well-written and as developed as any novel, but it is rather ill-advised to shove a novel's worth of content into a short book. Thanks for the reply!

Meg98 wrote: 16 Sep 2019, 22:42 I really like the premise of this one and love the introduction you have. It just seems that the story needs to be developed and polished a bit more. I hope the author can address some of the issues you mentioned. Thanks for this excellent, thorough review! Cheers:)
And thank you for the thoughtful reply! :D

Great review! It seems like a very interesting story but I get the sense that the story has been a little hurried! Would have liked to read this one but am not entirely sure.

I almost Jumped at the Chance to read this one for a review (it was actually on my list of potential choices after Blackthorn) but you beat me to it lol. I enjoy a good horse story but I’m not the old soul who would probably enjoy this most. I agree that showing vs telling greatly helps with the delivery of a story and at 194 pages, this book definitely has some room for more details. Thanks for the great review!

Rachel Lea wrote: 17 Sep 2019, 09:52 While I think the initial idea and setting for this story has promise, it sounds like the author wasn't able to carry it out well, which is unfortunate. The stereotypes featured in the book are a detractor as well. Thanks for your honest review!
My thoughts exactly. Thanks for the thoughtful reply!

Tomah wrote: 17 Sep 2019, 10:55 I also have problems properly describing things when I'm writing, so I can definitely understand the author's struggles. This is exactly why you need a good editor to point things out and help you polish your work. Thanks for the review!
I like to write on occasion as well, and I do get especially confused when it comes to describing scenes. This could really be a great book with some editing. Thanks for the reply!

MsH2k wrote: 17 Sep 2019, 11:19 Great review. Funny too! I like your description of the scene with the phone call(s). :D

I like that the title seems to refer to both literal and metaphorical "jumps". Otherwise, the book itself sounds underdeveloped. I'm going to pass for now.

This book doesn't sound like it's for me as sex-related religious themes give me the heebie jeebies, but I can see the appeal for others. It's disappointing that the writing wasn't more advanced to match the characterization. It's always sad when I really like a book's characters or premise but struggle to get through it due to pacing or poor writing. Excellent review! You went into detail about what you liked without being harsh about the things you didn't. Very informative! Thank you!

Prisallen wrote: 17 Sep 2019, 15:28 It sounds as if this could have been a good book if the author had taken the time to flesh out the characters and scenes a little better and get a professional editor to fix the errors. Thanks for a very nice review!
Thanks for the replies! I agree, it had a lot of potential but lack of proper execution.
