I'm sure she did, but in this story I think the main focus was on Will and keeping tabs on him specifically, because wherever he went they suddenly appeared
It would make sense to keep extra eyes on someone who is always getting into trouble, or at least being stalked by Fate Sealers.
Good point! Kinda like keeping an extra eye on the "bad kid", so to speak.
No, I think it was more to do with keeping an eye on a potential Prince's Sound.

Pellucid was smart enought o place them everywhere, not knowing what Will would do next.

All of the above! I think the crystal balls had uses for all things, because I don't think only one person was using them for surveillance...

Also, I remember the scene were Peter and Will were in the library studying for the passage. They seemed so blase about the crystal balls at that time. They were swatting them away easily! I guess they don't have an alarm system attached.

I like to take it even a step further and speculate that she didnt place them just for Will. I think they had been there all along, possibly even to write the adventures of some other Castaway kid

Yes, probably Emmy's journey during her stay in Echoland.

Who else do you think used them for surveillance? And I had forgotten that scene! They got so used to them being around they just swatted away at them like annoying gnats!

And I am very sure that Pellucid noticed this and will rectify such.

As I understood it, the eyes were a way for Pellucid to keep tabs on what was going. I believe it was just a way for her to see what Will was up to.

Once I got to the end of the book and realized Valerian was the enemy I sort of just figured he was looking through the eyes somehow and keeping tabs on him. Never crossed my mind that it could have been Pellucid!

I assumed it was just so people could keep tabs on him. Although now that think of it, they really didn't do much, did they?

To keep an eye on Will and report his status to the fate sealers? To help protect him? Or a less sinister approach?

After contemplating for some time, I think they were just a way for Pellucid to keep tabs on Will and Peter so that she could write their story.

What are your thoughts?
That seems like a reasonable assumption. I didn't think to ask why the author used the eyes. We spend so much time being viewed by cameras, cell phones, etc. that they seemed like just another surveillance procedure, albeit a fanciful, and creepy, one.

Perhaps the Leader of the Fortune Tellers? I mean, those magnificent creepy crystal ball eyes see a lot... perhaps Pellucid can see through his eyes as well, to watch Will? Just like the rest of the crystal balls. A wild assumption.

I really liked how they floated around in the overly bright library.
