What music do you listen too when you write

Hi. I'm new to this forum, so I'll start by saying that I play either light jazz or focus music. I have been writing since I was a teen and I really have improved on my expressive writing.

I usually listen to Celtic and Gaelic music while I write. Anything from Lunasa to the Pogues.

When I write, draw, paint, use clay (so basically anytime I create anything) the main bands I listen to are The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie. They are easy to listen to, very peaceful and I don't feel like I need to concentrate too much on them. I can just listen and get into the zone and create all sorts of things.

In particular, when music really touches my inner beings some words or notes seem timeless as I get to think about the past, now and coming events ;jazz pieces like Together again by Kenny G, 'Kakulange' by Mandox Sematimba and Valentine by Vanessa Williams ( forgetting the fact it is a love song).

I'm amazed that so many people listen to music while they write. I like the quiet, otherwise my mind feels too busy.

Anything that allows my brain to concentrate on the assignment instead of the music.

I mostly listen to instrumentals of songs rather than the actual songs themselves (complete with lyrics). If I'm listening to a song with the vocals then it most likely matches the type of scene I'm writing. Otherwise, it's the unrushed, quiet songs like Young and Beautiful by Lana del Rey.

I prefer to listen to either classical music or acoustic songs/acoustic covers when I’m reading, writing or getting some work done.

Depending on the pace and content of the current scene I'm on, I switch between classical and synthwave.
