I am on Rudy's side as regards mixing champagne with anything else. Perhaps I am a snob, but I believe too much work and skills and secrets are put into it, not to mention the price, to mix it with such as orange juice.
As to the rest of the review, you have signaled all the points I had noticed when reading the book. Your review is as nice to read as the book itself.

I never had any inspiration to become some sort of sommelier. I don't drink much and to tell you truth I don't like champagne in particular. Like at all. So I am afraid this book is certainly not the one for me. Sorry and congrats!

Everything you need to know about champagne distilled into 30 pages.
The instant champagne expert sounds like every budding connoisseur's guide to everything champagne. Sounds like an intriguing read. Great review.

Very sincere and balanced review. An interesting topic for both connoisseurs and amateurs. Anyone might be willing to know about the history of wine, the advantages of sampling quality Champagne and enjoying it responsibly.

I also don't entirely agree with the author on one single point. He wrote that readers should "respect the hard work that goes into every bottle of Champagne by not blending it with orange Juice [sic]." While I've never done this myself, I think everyone should enjoy the foods and drinks they want to enjoy however they'd like. I may think that dipping a remarkable steak in A1 is ridiculous, but if that's what someone wants to do, so be it! The same goes with wine, and if a mixed drink convinces someone to enjoy champagne, then have at it.
I agree. There are purists for every drink, be it coffee, tea, wine or champagne. I personally enjoy mimosas, even if it's not the proper way to drink champagne.
This seems like a great book. It's hard to make a technical book witty and entertaining.
I enjoyed very much your candid, enthusiastic review. Thanks!

Thanks for your review! I don't know much about champagne, so the book should be an enlightening read for me. I never knew that champagne was fermented twice. I'm also curious to find out about the trick with the silver spoon that's supposed to help it keep its bubbles.

Really? Dom Pérignon is the name of the blind monk who originally created champagne? That’s wild! Unlike you, Cataclysmic, I’m not a wine or champagne expert, but I do like books filled with interesting and quirky facts, so I may check this one out, especially since it's under 30 pages. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for your review! You make the book and champagne sound great. Perhaps, Ernst just didn't appreciate that the hard work of making the champagne was washed away with the orange juice. I personally enjoy a mimosa, but I can understand his point.

I didn’t know I needed to be a wine expert, but now I’m sort of intrigued. I especially liked the historical facts. I’ll check it out!
